I did a little research and saw most were having little sucess with boiling, so I went with a flush method.

First:
Cut a hole for my XL Carto into the cap of a 2-liter bottle. Drilled a hole in the bottom of the can as well. (For airflow)
Second:
I just ran the tap water to the point I couldn't stand it, filled a cleaned 2 liter bottle with hot water.
Third:
Screwed my XL carto on the cap, and turned my creation upside down and watched as the juice began to drain out of the filler, and water came out of the air holes.

I let the it run like this till the 2 liter was empty and now have my carto sitting upside down drying for the next day or so.

Let me know what you think or any recommandations, or if this is a horrible idea. I have only cleaned one of my many cartos, just in case this comes out bad.

Great ideas.

But some follow-ups on carto-cleaning posts would be interesting. After a month are you still cleaning them? How do the cleaned cartos taste and how long do they last?

Yeah, i will be posting follow-ups, i just did this a few hours ago and going to give my carto a run tomorrow and see how the taste is and everything.

I had just been researching alot and saw quite a few actually cleaning with a flush method and having good success.

Nice - btw - you said u drilled a hole at the bottom of the "can" - I am assuming u meant the bottle? Please let us know how it turned out - I kinda gave up on cartos cause I could never clean em.....

Yeah, I meant the 2 liter.

I love my cartos, but that is where I fall, I like to keep my equipment clean and they are more work. But I no longer like wick systems to much just not the same flavor to me.

Great idea!! I do it a little more difficult, but I think your way should work really fine. Try to pump a little with the bottle and they will get really clean if you don´t do it after weeks of use. To dy them I do spin them for two minutes with a rubber strap to hold them and a knotted a 25 cm (10 inch) strap. There are some vidz on youtube showing the cleaning of cartos, which were my inspiation, but I´ll try the cola bottle next time.
