When cleaning my Triton tanks and coils as per that video and I find the flavor lingers. Someone suggested Walgreens brand denture cleaner, which I use, but that plastic cap covering the Coils holds whatever flavor it encounters, including the slight minty toothpastey essence found in the denture cleaner.

So will the tanks operate without that plastic cap? Ive been leaving them on and it's not THAT big of a deal. After 20 puffs or so the toothpaste flavor is completely unnoticeable and all I taste is clean juice but still... to not have those first few unpleasant puffs would be great.

Any idea on if I need that plastic cap or not? If so how are you guys cleaning out your stuff

I feel like im posting on every thread here in Halo lol but thats ok ive had my triton pretty much ever since they came out with it so if i can help people out i might as well post. For me i learned alot just through my own trial and error tinkering with things i totally understand anyone that doesnt do that though because if it breaks than they gotta buy a new one. Anyways the plastic cap should stay on because that is what keeps the liquid from leaking through the mouthpiece into your mouth or on the surface of wherever you set it down.
Now i have heard of people doing modifications to it like cutting into the plastic cap near the wicks but i personally wouldnt recommend any of that. I can just say that it should be left on. I clean the tanks with hot water and thats it. Halo has 5 packs of coils for 12 bucks and i use 1 coil per flavor so i cant really give advice on getting out other lingering flavors.

Guilty! Yes that platic cap can sometimes be problematic. Some thoughts:

It may float in your cleaning liquid try and keep it submerged.

After the soak in hot water and I use el cheapo tupper ware and a screen over the drain, I carefully empty the cleaner from the container and then let the parts just sit in the tupper ware with hot water running over them. It not only purges the container but gives the parts their final bath. The tank gets a little tlc with two hot water fills and shake it around.

Remove parts and let them dry overnight. Sometimes I cheat and only let them dry for a few hours. You probably and should have extra tanks which you can use while your cleaned tank is drying.

After drying time (is that a song lol) assemble and this is my way lol. Fill to 2.4 attach to bat but DO NOT touch. just swirl and let it sit for 15 minutes if you can control your urge :)

Then after it's all swirled and partly cooked I still don't vape it. I burn the juice into the wick with three or 4 sessions of holding down the fire button with the contraption next to my ear so I can hear the crackling.

Know your ready to vape. BTW, I've never tasted the cleaner or anything like you describe as a sorta toothpaste like and that was my ah ha moment to try and help you :)

HTH :)

Yup, I just rinse with warm/hot water, some thicker liquids seem to burn in a residue in the wick and coil set,....and dry burning seems to make that burnt lingering flavor more pronounced, so letting them dry overnight is my preference. If still problematic, Halo's replacement coils are reasonably price.

Most of any residual taste will be from the wichs and coil itself. There will be an actual build up on the coil, if you take off the silicone sleeve and remove the top wick, you can see the coil itself, and eventually there will be some caked build-up from previous ejuices.

BTW, when you clean your Triton tank, remove the cap of course, then take out the coil assembly. Wash the tank, then removing the silicone sleeve andthe top wick, rinse out the coil, if it really built up, then dry burn as well if needed.

If any residual scent at all bothers you, then you can always replace the coil which will leave you with an essentially new tank.

Most of my ejuices like Tribeca and Malibu don't tend to impart a strong scent, nor do they have a tendency to cake on the coil very much. Some flavors and blends (such as high VG) just tend to be tougher on the coils.

Ive been getting some weird flooding issues too. It's only a slight amount, not enough to cause the fluid to leak all over the battery but it sounds like I'm drinking a milkshake when I take a puff. And the flavor and vapor production is slighty "spurty" if that makes any sense. Is that just a problem with the coil? I emptied the juice and it still did it.

Yes, I can replace the coil. Yes, I know they're relatively inexpensive. I'm just curious if a new coil would fix the problem or if it's something I can fix for future reference.

I remember a similar problem i had with one awhile back, i had to take the mouthpiece off all the time and wipe the top of the coil off and than i would unscrew it a little and than screw it back in. For some reason that seemed to help. Also sometimes after a fresh refill i would blow hard through the tank (while its off the battery) and than i would wipe the little bit of juice that came through the end that screws onto the battery and than after that i would screw it onto the battery. That seemed to help too, in the beginning i remember a tank like that.

I read in the Triton manual that sometimes when you take the mouth piece off it will loosen the center coil assembly, so make sure it's snug by gently turning it clockwise. But not to overtighten because that can cause a slightly burned taste, if that happens it needs to be very slightly loosened.

Coils will last for quite diofferent amounts of time, both due to the type of ejuice vaped, and simply becasue some simply hold up longer than others. I have fouled a coil within a matter of days, but generally they are good for several weeks. If the coil does become fouled from ejuice caking, it can burn poorly, causing ejuice to flood the air tube, hence the dreaded "gurgling" effect.

Although you may be able to clean and then do a dry burn to tgry and break up the caking on the coil, sometimes it is just time to grab a new coil.

Yes, using a new coil will in effect give you the response of a new tank.
