Cleaning...revamped!

Hey guys n gals

Talk about an old topic...but all the threads I've seen are kinda old. So I'm wondering, what do you use now, your all time fav way to clean your mechs??

Myself, el cheapo here, is still on toothpaste &/or ketchup. Laugh it up if ya wanna, no worries I'm looking for something better tho, cuz it just isn't seeming to perform the way it used to.

Jewelry polish? Baking soda? Brasso? NeverDull? Talk to me, pros & vets!!

Mother's Mag Wheel Polish...it will clean and polish anything metal

Cape Cloth, works wonders. also Never Dull Metal Polish

We use never dull and mothers metal polish. Just be sure to give it a good rinse with hot soapy water to remove any residue from the polish

Sunshine polishing cloths perfect for sterling silver, gold, brass, copper and nickel and I found great on stainless steel too but you do have to wipe down your PV well after you are done polishing it with the cloth. The only thing I have used for the past 4 years and they are awesome

I just use one of my camera's lens cleaning cloths, Keeps things nice and shiny.

If I had any Copper mods I'd probably just let them patina.

I'm all for the patina outside...on my coppers at any rate... I actually forced a blue onto one, natural brown making pretty good progress on the other... I've got a brass one I love to keep shiny, but that's cuz I just love it for some odd reason (OK, truth is it was my first mech, a gift from a forum member to a stranger, and totally restored my love for humanity in general)...but anywho, I'm really OCD about wanting my threads & contacts clean, I do it at LEAST once a week, sometimes more... which is saying more than it sounds like because I have 3 mechs I use regularly, not just 1, lol... so I will def be trying the mother's mag on the threads and will let y'all know how it goes

Dish soap and a toothbrush for general cleaning. Brasso for polishing.

What do you guys do to clean your contacts? I just used steel wool on my paragon v3 but it still doesnt fire right when negative post is screwed into the button all the way.

Dissolve salt in white distilled vinegar. A short soak in that and brass and copper shine right up. If you want to go the extra mile and get things shiny spotless, scrub with baking soda when you pull the pieces out of the salt/vinegar brine. Works great for tubes, contacts...anything. It even cleans stainless stuff. If I'm letting a piece patina, I can just use a q-tip dipped in the brine and use it to wipe down the threads and insides of a mod. Best part is, it's completely Eco-friendly!

Ketchup? Ive actually always use Tabasco. Works wonders.
