Cleaning RM2 coil?

You can dry burn it....is that what you mean? I mostly use cotton, so I never dare without removing the wick first (and replacing it afterwards with a new cotton wick), but I dry burn it in between.
I think the OP is asking if you can torch the coil (like, with a chef's torch) without removing it from the rba. It's a good question, I've wondered that myself at times but wouldn't dare try it without getting confirmation that it is possible.
Are there plastic or other temperature sensitive components anywhere near the posts and coil? I know there's some sort of plastic or rubber gasket separating the +/- 510 connectors at the bottom, but I know I could avoid getting that area hot IF it was the only component at risk. I suspect there might be hidden dangers somewhere inside, though.
What does the inside of this thing look like, anyways? Anybody got pics?

I know its not torching but I assure you they can handlea lot of heat. My son knocked mine over the other day it landed on the button and stayed on it was so hot even my VVG was hot to touch.
I have no idea....and I'm guessing this would be a question Rob would need to answer. I dry burn my coils to clean them.
Yes I am sure you can I dont see it harming the atty . You dont need to torch the wick and wire just dry burn it with the mod .
Did that this AM just dry burned and coils came back clean as did silica wick, when I started they looked junked up, amazing how quickly and clean they came with the dry burn, super atty going to order second one today. Thanks.
You can torch coil/wicks on RBAs. I don't see them on the RM2, but some RBAs have rubber rings (gaskets?) around the bases of the posts, so it would be wise to angle the torch flame up to avoid heating the post bases. I would do that with the RM2 as well just in case. If you still wanna try torching that is.
