Hello all...I have a question maybe someone might have some suggestions for me. On the top of my silver GGTS (you know the lip where it collects the liquid under where you screw the atomizer), well liquid over time has left a dark, blackish cover of dirt. It is a very difficult area to clean as of it's small size, unless you take it apart. I was thinking of taking it apart until I have just the silver piece I need to clean. What I wanted to know is if anyone has any suggestions for a liquid cleaner I could use to soak the part in that would loosen the dirt & grime there without damaging the aluminum. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide :)

You can get it apart with a 11mm socket very easy. If you have the leak fix take that out first and then you can unscrew the threads from the cap easily. I have been using the Cap Cod cleaning cloths on mine to get those dark spots off. Unless you take it apart there really is no easy way of getting down in there. I hear that benzine takes off those dark stains pretty easily but you need to be very careful with that stuff.

I've been wondering about this too... didn't think that it is advisable to unthread the connector i use hand held steam cleaner i usually use for cleaning atties to clean the cap gutter with its cone nozzle, works pretty good and no leak whatsoever inside (talk about fixing the leakage issue huh? :D)

But next time i'll try a socket to unthread it if it's advisable.

I am too lazy to take mine apart to clean this area so I just roll up my CCC to make a point that I roll around in there and follow up with a rolled up paper towel. :):):)

I was trying this at first but found that those little slots in the threaded part would grab my CCC and paper tower. The steam cleaner method sounds like it would work pretty good also but I don't own one of those things so you do what you got to do right? That is the best part of the GG is you can fully disassemble it and clean it real good. No solder joints to worry about. I just wish there was a solution you could drop the threaded bits in and they would be like new again. Maybe the ultrasonic cleaner is what I need for this. Can someone tell me if that makes the threaded parts look new again without needing to scrub on them.

Well today I completely unscrewed everything from the top. Basically I removed everything until I was left with only the silver lip. I then used Brasso and Q-Tips and about 3 of them (both sides) removed all the ...., and tarnish. Before I did the Brasso I rinsed off any excess liquid. Screwed everything back together and she looks like new...Thanks everyone for your suggestions :)

Glad you got that sorted.
I'd actually advise everyone to do this before they get too much juice and mess down in there because (in my case anyway) it becomes harder to remove the atty connector assembly - the more caked in the residue gets. So it's as well to get it out of there first and maybe then re-tighten it slightly looser than it was originally - if you get my drift......
