Hi - any ideas on how to get those wicks clean - other than use of a blow torch? which I do not have...

Are we talking about silica wicks, I assume?
Just do a simple dry burn -remove the tank, with the wicks exposed wash them, then pulse your firing button, letting the coils glow for only little bits of time, until all of the residue is burned off, then wash again. Silica can withstand the heat, and you'll have clean wicks in no time.

Sock the coil ( take plastic grommet off ) in Everclear for a few hours. Then rinse in hot water. Let dry. The silica/cotton becomes very clean as in brand new looking.
If no Everclear you can use vodka. No vodka soak in hot water.

sorry I meant how to clean the removed flavor wicks?
I did the dry burn already and that went well.
Its the top wicks that did not cme clean in a short vodka soak.
