clearing primer from new attys

since ive been vaping i have only used cartos, but my wifes new PV arrived this morning and the kit came with some attys so i thought i'd have a little play!
i had read and seen youtube clips about clearing the primer fluid so i was aware of it
(surely the manufacturers should provide this info as they are STARTER KITS, but anyway....)

i have tried clearing with vg... no good
i have tried water and blowing them out... no good

judging by posts on this forum, thousands of people regularly use attys and i cant see everyone going through this rigmarole every time they use a new one?

as it stands, my usually sweet ry4 tastes horribly bitter and with all the trial and error my throat feels worse than when i was smoking

has anyone got an idiot proof way of getting rid of the primer fluid?
have i possibly damaged the atty as a result. the taste is more chemical than burnt though.

i am using boge standard 510s if that helps. i have tried filling the carts and dripping directly onto the atty.

i would appreciate any input as i would like to have a go with attys and even if i dont end up using them regularly i have got 2 spares for any unforseen disasters!

as a side note, I wonder how many newbs have given up on vaping as a result of no warning being on the starter kit?
If I was unaware of the primer I think I would have tossed it after a couple of tokes.

I had better luck with plain PG as it wicks better than VG (no inhaling, just puff and blow out). But first I have heard that flushing grain alcohol (ie everclear) or the highest alc % vodka you can get, can get rid of a lot of it - then let it dry an hour or 2, then flush plain pg through. Yeah, PIA and I wonder too if it has made ppl give up - lucky for me I started with prefilled cartos. Good luck!

Wrap a piece of paper towel/tissue around the end of atty and blow out as much of the primer as possible. Once you've done that, attach the atty to your battery and drip a couple of drops of vg or your ejuice onto the atty. Take 4 or 5 good draws (without inhaling) and repeat....once you've done that a couple of times, you should be good to go.

ETA: I've found that I've had great success and prefer to use the newer 'dripping atomizers' that are shipped WITHOUT primer. They are good to drip and go right out of the gate.

Thanks cactusgirl, I actually cracked the other one open and used exactly that technique.
Worked like a charm. The original one stinks to high hell though. Think it must be dud. Just my luck on my first atty!!!!

I've now discovered that one of the batteries is faulty and wont fire up. Just blinks away and does nothing!!!
From what I have seen on some posts, this has happened before. I've contacted liberty flights and lots of people rave about their customer service so hopefully they'll come through for me!

Ah well, these things are sent to test us!!!

Eh, can you link to some information about this primer fluid? I have not heard of it. Unsettling.

Everything I heard about the primer is that it's either just PG or a PG/VG mixture. The speculation comes in that it may also absorb some oils from the manufacturing process or (my theory) being hygroscopic, the primer absorbs stuff from the air while in storage or in transit.

When I have attys with a bad primer taste, I usually just blow out as much primer as possible, drip and tough it out untill the flavor clears. For especially fouls attys, I've had some success blowing out the primer, dripping flavored juice and then blowing that out, dripping again and then vaping. Dripping some straight PG may also help. I'm more likely to have juice on hand than anything else that may work.

Nowadays, my attys usually arrive primer-free. I'm partial to the i06 from IKV, but there is a learning curve to using them.

Didn't stop vaping but did decide to chuck my eGo and some other unknown brand due to atty primer. I bought a Lavatube with the tube tank and haven't regretted one moment. No more burnt or chemical taste.

@egeus- if you google atomizer primer there's tons of info.
Most links are saying that it is harmless and I believe it is, it just tastes disgusting!!!!
