I'm told IC pullers actually do work well, but I never actually used those. As I mentioned in my previous post, I took an old precision flathead screwdriver and bent the flat end with some pliers to form a 90° hook and used that. You should be able to find a set of precision screwdrivers pretty cheaply. You could also use the little screwdriver in an eyeglass repair kit, or get a seam ripper from any fabric or craft store. Or the aforementioned IC puller.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. You can try them out of the box and see if they work for you that way; there seem to be quite a few who have had good experiences with them without modification. But for me, it was a complete non-starter, so a-modding I did go. After that these things were just a ridiculous vape, and in fact seem to work best at lower voltages (3.3-4.5 or so). I don't like them at higher voltages though, they tend to start tasting like hot plastic -- but it doesn't really matter because they seriously don't need high voltage. At all. Seriously, I put in a freshly charged AW IMR battery hot off the charger at 4.2V first thing in the morning and it's only down to 4V by the time I leave work even vaping at around 4.3-4.5V.

Aside from the need to mod them, these things are just a win all around.

I dug around in my toolbox and found a small diameter punch. It pretty much looks like an ice pick. It fishes out the 2 seals perfectly, and I use it to pierce the last cup seal to pull it out. No need to fish around in the ceramic atomizer cup... just push the tip of the punch into the last cup seal at a bit of an angle, and it pulls right out without disturbing the actual cup at all.

Oh, I know how you feel. I've got some nic juice, PG and VG on the way that was headed for the border as of 5AM yesterday morning, and the tracking stops as soon as it crosses the border, so I've no idea if customs has got hold of it or if it's headed to my door as we speak. All I know is my mailman is very nervous around me right now.

Then suddenly...out of the bushes pops a haggardly individual...holding what appears to be a chrome missile. Is it a weapon? Maybe one of those fancy gizmos you see in the spy movies that shoot poison darts into the flesh of the target? Will he surely die today before finishing his appointed rounds? All these thoughts abound within the span of a few milliseconds...

Then the individual...decked out in full camo with olive drab paint on his face places the missile to his lips, draws, and exhales a plume of blueberry vapor toward our fearful mail carrier.

"Got my stuff" says the camo clad individual?

What voltage are you trying them out at? These things can't really handle high voltage as they start tasting like burnt ... up over 10 watts or so, mostly due to the proximity of the coil to the seal. For me, I never go above about 4.3v on my 2.6-2.8s.

I don't have voltage marked and I haven't metered it, but the dial is up about 3/4 of the way. Any lower and I don't get good vapor. Higher and it tastes burnt. I'm not positive what the total possible voltage is on the box. It's a MadVapes box I got on a trade. It takes two 14500s, so I'm guessing it's a 6 volt?

I suppose it is possible that I fried the coil? Also the fluxos are 2.8-3.0.

- Wicks fluffed? (use a pair of needle-nosed tweezers or a thin hooked implement like a paperclip to bring the dangling bits of wick up a bit to bunch up around the wick slots on the cup)
- Dry burned? (Pulse 4-5 seconds @ ~3.7V about 4-5 times after removing cup seal but before first fill to burn off any residual manufacturing flotsam; helps get rid of burnt plastic taste on initial fill)
- Groove-side down? (I know it's a basic thing, but just make sure the new center seal you're using as the cup seal is groove-side down/smooth-side up)
- Low VG liquid? (Works best <=30% VG liquids; higher and wicking issues begin.)
- Periodic tipping? (Fluxo needs to be down periodically for a second or two every few vapes just to let liquid get to the top bits of the wick. It can also help sometimes to vape roughly horizontal or at a slight upward angle every few puffs just to make sure it keeps wicking well.)

I think that about covers the major points.

Assuming the dial is correct, then I should be running about 14.6 watts if 3/4 is really 3/4. That is also figuring total combined voltage of both 3.7 volt batteries...I am not an electrical genius, so I don't know if that is what is really combined for total power output or not. Hey, I'm just guessing here.

But just to answer your checklist I do see a few other possibilites.

Dry burned - no. Didn't see that addition until after I filled it.
Groove side down - yes.
Low VG liquid - yes...80/20
Periodic tipping - no. Didn't see that one.

Math might be a bit off there. Watts = (volts * 2) / Resistance, so assuming 2.8 ohms resistance at, say, 5 volts, that's just shy of 9 watts.
