Ok, so im using the clearomizer that came with my zmax v5 and in less than a week the flavour isnt great and the vape is a bit dry... ive taken out the removable atomizer and cleaned it with hot water, then let it dry, but its still the same.

Ive heard these can go funny like this in a few days sometimes and i need to get a replacement atomizer.... Does that sound about right? seems like a very short shelf life for the part.

I have bought this from the US, which should hopefully be with me in the UK soon.

$15.98 Authentic Protank-II Clearomizer w/ Pyrex Glass Tank (2.5mL) - translucent / 2.5

But in the meantime, i guess im going to have to go get a replacement part for the one im currently using.

what clearomizers do you guys use? and is this a common problem i am encountering?

Hey im pretty close im in germany :)
Anywho what wattage or voltage do you have it set to, if not then if its a mech then probbably too much power. Protank 2 i would advise not to use with a mech ( unless) you rebuild the coil to around 1.2-1.4 ohms.
I dont have too much experience with Kanger, aspire nautilus i can walk you through no problem or even the Magoo

Yeah that is abt right. If you can get one week out of a clearo wick that is really good. With real heavy vaping in my experience abt 5 days is the best. Your correct on the just a few day thing too, Ive seen some wicks rotten out of the box. Back when I used to do that stuff more, I never had any luck cleaning a used wick, with Vodka either.

Kanger is a nice choice, so is Smok Aro's and the old Pyrex. The bottom coils clearos always worked best for me, but i never tried Innokin but the Innokin top coils are really massive. The nice thing abt Smok Aros you can buy the wicks for only a buck 50 each, and they vape right up there with a big tank RBA. Never used Kanger, but I know they can be really good too. Kanger and smok wicks I am pretty sure are NOT interchangeable tho, check the write ups on them, or manufacture specs, as i am not positive. I am certain Vision wicks will not work with Smoktech.

I can tell you that it is all based on use. Keep in mind I have never used Kanger, but Kanger tanks are really similar to Smoktech that I have. Regarding use, I know one Vaper who is a dual user (smoks and vapes), she vapes abt 10 ml a month. Her coils last for 45 days. But when i used Smoktech alot and vaped quit a bit, abt 5 days is the max for me on them. What happens is you kind of get a gunk build up on the wick. Then the taste is really lousy.

Keep in mind a lot of these wicks are rebuildable. There is some nice threads here at ECF on how to do it. If you cant find anything here, you tube has lots of them too. Try googling if your interested or a moderator might direct you to them.

Gotta run good luck to you

I use a Kanger MT3S and it uses replaceable coils/wicks. I used to just change the whole coil/wick part when the flavor went south. After going through several boxes I decided to recoil my old ones (I kept all the used ones). At first I wrapped the coil around the wick like I saw in the videos on You tube. That worked okay, but I was finding that it was mainly the wicks getting burnt and giving the bad taste. So, I made a coil by itself, installed it and then put the wicks ON TOP of the coil! Then when the wicks got bad I could just lift the wicks out, do a dry burn and then lay new wicks on top again. Works great for me and after tweaking the coils and the juice my wicks last even longer now. I've never heard of anyone laying wicks on top of the coils like I do, but you don't know unless you experiment. I tend to chain vape at my desk and my wicks usually last about four to five days. The coils last over a month. With all the replacements that I've rebuilt, if the flavor starts going away or some other problem starts, I can install a new rebuilt coil/wick in less than a minute with no tools. I keep spares with me wrapped in foil, for when I go out. I guess mainly what I'm getting at is, if you find something that you like and it works for you, don't get discouraged if problems crop up. It happens with everything. Just find a way to get around those problems cheaply and easily and you'll have more time for enjoying the little things in life. Good luck.

5-7 days is about right for most coils...of course it depends on a lot of factors like, how much you use, type of juice, what clearo, etc.

In my experience, just washing usually won't get the coil clean...you really need to dry burn. Almost everything comes with silica wicks which you can dry burn. Check out some youtube videos on this...the principal is the same on most devices.

so i dont need to keep replacing the part... i just dry burn when the flavour goes south?

Simplest solution: I suggest you buy a 5-pack of coils and at least one more tank. I'm a flavor junkie and I have numerous tanks, each filled with a different flavor. Sometimes you need a change of pace, and this way, while you're cleaning a tank, you have another one to use.
You need multiples of everything...you do NOT want to be caught in a situation where the easiest thing to do is pick up a cigarette!
Best of luck to you, Mr. Cleese.

So true Penny. I too am a flavor junkie and I'm working on a Peppermint/Orange mix at this moment. I have spares for everything. Chargers, tanks, silica wick, Kanthal wire, PG, VG and numerous flavorings. When I first got started I wasn't told of the short life of the cheap clearos and got stranded with a popped coil. I went through another carton of analogs before I got my replacements in the mail. THAT ill never happen again! I ain't going back to the stinkies as long as I can vape!!!!

If you buy tanks with the same coil type, you only have to buy one type of coil. Easy. And if you learn to rebuild, you only have to rebuild one type of coil.

For example, all of these tanks can use the same type of coil: Kanger Protank, Kanger Protank II, Kanger Protank Mini's, Kanger Unitank and Kanger Evods.

:)

If you go the dual coil route, all of these coils are interchangeable:
Protank 3
Mini Protank 3
Evod 2
T3D
AeroMega
AeroMini
AEROTank

It does make your life easier when you are starting out...and beyond.
