I have seen that ad in the US as well and it just comes off as so... desperate. Considering NRT has pushed for and received approval of their products for 'perpetual', indefinite periods of use the irony of their "quit for good" message is truly laughable.
I hope that Clive is more successful in his complaint than I was.
I had complained to that advertising standards agency in the UK, but to no avail, unfortunately.
The best outcome as far as i am concerned will be when there are enough studies published (and there are a few already) such that vaping can take on NRT claims head on.
In other words to be able to say "the most effective way to quit smoking" - and advertise them as such. Whether it's regulated as medicine or tobacco or at all, is irrelevant to a smoker wanting to stop.
