Hello everyone im still pretty new to vaping so sorry if this is in the wrong place or anything but i have a question. What can i do to get rid of the burnt taste and am i using the coil wrong.

Im sorry its a long story please forgive me

Background info:
Okay so i got my kanger cupti today it had the .5 subohm CLOCC coil preinstalled. It worked amazing until...my dumbass put it in my pocket without turning it off and a few minutes later i noticed it felt really hot and so i took it out of my pocket to discover that it had been firing. Enter the nasty burnt wick smell and taste. My boyfriend who has been vaping for a while said he thought i fried my coil less than 3 hours with my new mod and ive already ruined a coil yikes....so i get home and change out the coil with the second coil that came in the box thinking it was the same kind until i asked my boyfriend *facepalm* it is not....its a 1.5 subohm CLOCC. So i screw it on and like a noob immeadialty fire it and take a direct lung hit without priming because i didnt kniw any better and get an even worse god awful burnt taste than before. And i then realized i had not given the system enough time to recoginize i had a new coil so it fired it at .5 ohm resistance? Idk if thats the right word. So after that it adjusted and tasted better for a few hits...and then tastes burnt again..i let it set for an hour or so in hopes of it soaking and tasting better but even then still burnt taste. i read somewhere to use a needle to poke a small hole in the cotten of the coil on each side so i go to try that and i cant even poke a hole in the cotten because its completely solid like a tiny inpenatrible wall? wtf i thought cotten was fluffy?

Question..
Did i fry 2 coils in 5 hours? am i just doing something wrong? Can i fix this? And for the love of all that is good why is my cotten hard?

Yes you fried 2 coils in 5 hours. The system will not set itself according to ohms. It will read what size ohms you have in, but you have to adjust the watts to each coil you use. Always prime, start on lower watts and work your way up little by little. If you get the slightest burnt taste back down the watts immediately as to not burn the coil.

howdy! and welcome!

it is likely that you fried those coils (specifically, burned the cotton in them) - on the down side, once the cotton is burned, there is not much you can do for those coils (save the extreme step of disassembling and rebuilding them)... on the up side, it is not a terribly expensive lesson (nothing broken, just have to replace coils)

couple of things to note, as txaggiesaunt pointed out above...

first off - always check the coil you are putting in so that you know what ohm reading on it should be (and if you will need to turn down power settings on mod)... and always prime the coil - several drops on side wicking holes, several drops down center (do it slowly to let cotton absorb)... and if you are having wicking issues, you can actually use a pin to gently poke a small hole in cotton in side wicking holes (i tend to work pin in a little then rotate - goal is to open/ fluff cotton a little bit, not put visible hole all the way through - that would likely cause flooding issues - you are just trying to 'loosen' cotton a little to improve wicking absorption)... generally after i put primed coil in tank, and fill tank, I will let it sit for 5-10 minutes and look for some small airbubbles - those will indicate that you are getting juice flow/ wicking

and again, as stated above, start on lower watts and work your way up to find the 'sweet spot' - also gives the coil a chance to get broken in

To get the Cupti to read the ohms:

Press the fire button once and unscrew the chimney from the base. The ohms will read 999.
Let the LED display go off.
Screw the chimney back in.
Press the fire button. The device will ask if it a new coil. Press the + button.
Then the device will read the coil and display the approximate correct resistance.
Also, make sure the device is on the correct settings for the type of wire in your coil.

I would recommend stainless steel for the best vape.
