I posted something on reddit, figured id post it up here as well to see what it turns up. Here is the post copy/pasted.

Well the title says it all.... I was really interested in getting like a Hanna Modz DNA40, the legit one, but my health went down the drain and now im unable to work, broke and have tons of medical bills, Then, just the other day my mech mod broke (Go figure).
SO I am on here trying to get some recommendations for a decent but affordable VW box mod that I can pick up on ebay or wherever for like 50ish bux, maybe a little more, just depends.
Im curious if anyone has some ideas on a decent brand or company that seems to have a really good mod that will fit what I am looking for.
Here are a couple bullet points that I would like it to have on it.

  • USB charging port
  • Ability to change the battery.
  • Screen
  • Can build sub ohm .3 - 3.0 (I am flexible on this)
  • Regulated
  • Holds (1) battery, Not (2). I like the smaller size, Something between the smallness of the vaporshark up to the size of the Hanna Modz DNA 40.
  • Metal design
  • Cheap in cost
  • Has some decent reviews, or even maybe a youtube video review so I can check it out (Would be nice but not that important)
  • Is actually well built, and functions just as well as a regular box mod for a clone.
  • Display Screen
  • Reverse Protection
  • Atty Sits FLAT on it, no crooked or off center posts would be nice.
  • Floating 510 connection just so the atty sits flush
Ill be running a Magma RDA clone that I picked up on it, and the main thing I want out of it is FLAVOR production, and DENSE clouds. I dont need to blow competition size vape clouds, but a decent production would be nice. (I am not positive of all the factors that affect that so I just figured I would add this in)
I cant think of anymore for right now, but that should get the ball rolling.
I appreciate all the help any of you may be able to offer, as well as any links, reviews, youtube videos, websites, brand names, and personal experience, etc etc..
Thanks a TON!
Vape on.

Iv seen stuff on fasttech but I dont know which clone is decent and which are crap, Im hoping that someone out there owns a clone and can give some positive feedback to help me find one that works.

All I know is I am shooting for flavor, so as far as wattage, I dont know if I should be looking at 30w, 50w, 100w. (Do I really need to go up to 100w! When I am trying to chase flavor?) Any input on this would be a help too so I can figure out what wattage I should be shooting for. All I know is id rather have a smaller box with less wattage than get 100w and have to lug around some big freaking box mod, I wouldn't like that. lol

Im really hoping some of you experts on here can provide me with some good info and maybe this will lead me to a purchase that I can afford to get me by for the time being until I can start working again. (If it will last me 6-8 months id be stoked) and I will be happy and satisfied with until I can make some money and get a decent legit set-up in my hands.. But for now, thats not an option so, please, help. :)

Thanks again!

Check out this post on reddit, I found some clones anywhere from 39-59 bux. Any opinions? (Remember, I just need it to work for the time being, until I can get the real deal, I just cant justify the funds at this point)

And as far as the "not asking a lot" those bullet points are just guidlines in hopes to narrow down a choice from the hundreds of clones that are available. But, In the thread below, I actually found a few that meet almost all the bullet points, I just gotta figure out which will work better with my Infinite Magma rda clone. Hoping I can figure out which one it will sit better on, fixed 510 or adjustable, because I know the magama I have is a bit long on the threads. Also, not sure if 30w is going to be enough or if I should bump up to 50w for the extra kick, of it that is just overkill on a magma, shooting for flavor.

I also agree on the IPV Mini. The only real questionable part is if 30W is enough for you. I like my tanks at around 15-17W and RDAs at around 24-26W so it's perfect for me, but if you want more wiggle room you'll have to look elsewhere. Also, people say it reads the coils a bit too low, so it may not properly fire a true .5 ohm coil. I like .8-1.2 ohm coils so I'm not worried about it, but you stated you wanted the ability to fire down to .3 ohm coils, which the Mini won't do...

There is the iStick 50W coming out soon, and also the IPV Mini V2 that can fire .3 ohm coils up to 70 watts, but that might be out of your price range. I got my Mini V1 for $55.

JMHO but if you are that tight on cash and are familiar with operating a mech then why not snag an Infinite Stingray X?

Solid copper with a stainless jacket..great magnets and solid connectivity..plus comes with the hybrid adapter and a nice driptip.

I know that's not what you were asking for but you can grab one for about $30 and it will handle anything your batteries can handle...

That IPV Mini is pretty sick. I think .5ohms is low enough, I have been screwing around with 20g wire and im running a .2 ohm coil on my broken mech mod right now, so just to give me an example of what type of coils I would be running in the magma. What is an example of like a .8 ohm coil set up, and an example of a 1.5 ohm coil set up. I still haven't completely figured out what adding more wraps does, taking away wraps, going higher or lower on the gauge kanthal, etc etc.

I was under the impression that a 20g build will produce more flavor because of the larger surface area.... (riptrips advice) But I am more accustomed to building 26g-28g single coils or parallel coils.... I seem to be more of a single coil person.

Can someone help clear this up for me? Maybe if I can figure out the right coil to throw in that magma, Ill be able to figure out which one of these mods to get...

Either way, its narrowed it down a lot for me and helped out a ton either way! Thanks for all the help!

I dont know if there would be a way to compare. But if I am vaping on a 20g single coil 5 wraps at .27 ohms, on a half dead sony vtc battery on a mech mod..... What WATTAGE is this equivalent to? That might help me figure out if I should be in 30 or 50. Obviously I cant use this coil on a box mod so I will have to figure out a different coil to use, but I just want to use it as a comparison point.

Sort of like this would be the same hit on a 1.5 ohm coil at ____ watts.

Or this would be like a .8ohm coils at ___ watts.

Is this a viable question?
