I just want to wake up to a morning that is above zero. We always have a few weeks of really cold but I think it has only been above freezing one or 2 times in the morning since Christmas.

Dang, I feel sad for ya. That brings back real bad memories of living in the midwest. My advice:

 and it's almost Balentimes day  whoa I sorrys Mary

I shouldn't complain. Lots of good things been happening the last couple of weeks. It has been kind of hard here because the kind of stuff Mr did when self employed only did good in the more money areas like Madison and Lake Geneva. But it was over an hour to each and by the time he went to meet with clients, then drew them up plans and went to meet with them again and then they had to decide, then back to get down payment,.....then every day to do jobs which were only when ground wasn;t frozen (landscaper). Well we were going broke from all the driving. No jobs around here like that because kind of a mid money area and people do their own. Anyways he got a job 10 min away with decent pay and insurance. We have not had insurance in more than 25 years. So very thank ful

It's cheaper to live here at 118 degrees 2200 sq ft for 300.00 then 440.00 for 1 month and 250.00 then back to around 120.00 then way less in the winter.

Yep it costs less to cool than heat cooling never is half that high for this place

It could be worse I hear they are getting over 4.00 gal for propane back when I used the stuff to heat I always used 6 or 7 hundred gals a winter

Milton Propane here is 6 a gallon, we have a woodburning fireplace to supplement. Our Governor met with Obama last week when he visited the state and got a state-of-emergency declared over it so they could get help for the people who can't afford to pay their bills

Around here we have an electric co-op they don't shut you off when weather is below 32 but if it warms up a week they sure will

We have people here in Tennessee that can not get their propane delivered. An old couple was on the news the other night, waiting with no heat for over two weeks. They did buy a few space heaters. The local propane companies are saying that they will not deliver to new customers and the old customers are waiting.

I do not want to open my electric bill this month. We will be eating eggs, lots of pasta and rice and beans for a month. Anybody have a good recipe for rice and beans?

Google is your friend I like red beans and rice with smoked sausage in it

Now that is totally uncalled for. Old peoples with space heaters are not a really good combo. They could burn da dam house down and not be fast enough to get out. That's TERRIBLES ! :glare:

They have a thing here where they cant shut your stuff like electric and gas from Nov-March but because propane is delivered they don't have to deliver it if you don't pay the bill. We have a small 250 gallon tank but my parents have a way bigger house and a 500 gallon tank. luckily we both had them filled just before the prices went up when they were still 1.50 a gallon
