I think it's REAL 'purdy' Rose!! Who cares whether or not it's a repeating pattern? I doubt anyone would notice...you're sticking it on a ROUND object, a man on a galloping horse wouldn't notice..trust me. :)

Well Im glad he would...but I thinking about someone standing there looking at it. :p

Neither here nor there
It can definitely be cropped to be usable. I don't know how to "wrap" the image, but the fish at the left and right sides can be made to match up with just a little bit of the upper part of the image lost.

Edited to add that upon further fiddling with the image, it appears to repeat vertically. I can't get it to line up to make the edges match. It believe it could successfully be copied and stitched but that would give some mighty tiny fish. Those above who said that it's such a busy image and the edges wouldn't be noticed are correct IMO.

It can be made to be seamless. Keep in mind however that there IS a seam, just that the image could be made to match where the seam comes together.

If done correctly it'd look like a colorful pattern from a distance and the detail would only be visible from close (up/in hand).

Sorta like some of these?:
