I have decided on a 510 Little Chuck. :D I have many 510 attys already, and I've been pleased with their performance. In the next few weeks I might be playing with 510 cartos as well, as I suppose I should have an option when dripping isn't convenient. I thought I'd make my decision public, just in case any of you veteran Chuckleheads have any advice.

I am also trying to decide on a design for my Little Chuck. I realize that this is a very personal decision, and will ultimately be mine to make, but as I've narrowed it down quite a bit, I've decided to open up my two front-running designs for your consideration.

First, I adore the simplicity of an all matte black Little Chuck with black endcaps and a red switch. There's just something very industrial and, to me, sexy about that look. I don't need to post a picture, as I'm sure everyone here has seen a matte black Little Chuck.

The other direction I would go, is by doing a wrap with a Magritte painting, either "Golconde" or "La Reconnaissance". Thoughts? Thanks for taking the time to read my unsubstantive little post!

:toast:

:::EDIT:::

I've just cropped/resized both images to 2.8" x 3" and rolled them up to see what the seam will look like. Golconde can work if the building in the right foreground is removed. La Reconnaissance will have an unsightly seam because of the placement of the clouds.

I intend to go to the library for a Magritte book, do a high resolution scan, then crop/resize. That is, if I decide to go in this direction...

I LOVE Golconde.

Don't worry too much about the seam. I used Miro's Garden. The edges don't match. The background is the same color but there's even a stripe that's off on that. And, if I remember to look at it, I notice it. Otherwise I don't.

Seams really matter if you are doing a face -- you don't want someone's ears touching. Otherwise, not so much. Also, I think the more surrealist you go, the less the seam matters.

Google images. (Actually, Bing is better for images.) I actually started by looking for an Escher.

Here's the link to my Chuck's album. One of the pictures shows the seam.
Here you go
The first picture is as close as you're going to get to seeing Poeia in front of the camera. And she wasn't actually standing guard -- she was running away from it.

My computer decided to eat that picture. I could see it but I couldn't move it or upload it. I finally had to do a grab of it then save the grab as a jpeg so I could upload it.

And thanks. But, no, it doesn't get commented on. I guess New Yorkers are too jaded. ;)

Chucks are the way to go and so is the 510 fitting imo. Guess I am partial. I do prefer my reg. chuck over the little one but many like the smaller design.

The cartos are great too. They even have lv cartos which will make the little chucks awesome, see quakerejects post "For you carto folks"

You'll love it and once you have it, you'll never want to see a 510 battery again!

Ooooooooh...Escher Chuuuuck....I think I saw one around these boards.

I found some decent pics in Google images, but with variations in color. I just want to get it as right as possible...never mind that I'm removing a foreground object that is vital to the composition.

Thanks for taking the time to link me. It looks RAD with the pink atty.
You're right about the seam too, I'd have to be one .... fellow to let something like that get to me.

I have no hesitation about which mod to get. It's not often one happens across a group of customers who are so overwhelmingly thrilled with a product. I suspect my first Little Chuck won't be my last Chuck.

I'm glad to hear you like the 510 fitting.

I'll check it out, thanks! :toast:

The whole is never visible at any one time. The object you remove will always be "just out of sight around the curve of the Chuck."[/url] And yours requires crisper lines at the edges of the figures than mine does.

I bought attys in every color I could for it. That also let me color code the flavors (pink=Mint Chocolate Chip; copper=Milk Chocolate; titanium=peppermint, etc.) And then I made the switch to 510 cartos. They're very new. I'm sure they'll come in colors eventually. Until then -- black with labels.

Can always get the stainless steel ones from nhaler, so far that's the only multiple color option I've seen.
I have one that I stripped down to stainless (Drew was out of them when I ordered.) It's very pretty. The condom method is not great with the stainless because, without the zillionth of an inch of paper, the condom is just loose enough that the liquid can ooze up the sides more than it usually does.

I have a ton of old VCR labels. I write the flavor on one line, cut it out and wrap it around the carto. Between those and my 4 colors of circular sticky labels (cut into half moons), I'll be fine until the marketplace starts offering them with a variety of wraps. These have only been available for a month or so. With more vendors offering them every day (or so it seems), the factory is probably working full-time at keeping up with the orders. They have no reason to offer options other than hard/soft end -- yet.

Magritte is my favorite artist, nice choice.

I love him. There's a collection down here called The Menil, and they have a wonderful surrealist collection, including many Magrittes.

My first thought of Magritte on a Chuck was 'Ceci n'est pas un pipe', but I haven't put together a design I really like yet. I have some friends who are much more skilled in Adobe CS than I, so I might enlist some outside help.
