I bought my e-cig about 3 weeks ago to drop my 3/4 pack/day habit (it worked!) and I enjoy vaping far more than I ever enjoyed smoking. I went to the local vape store, but they are always so busy that they're not all that helpful (or friendly for that matter). So I'm trying to figure all this out on my own. I have an ego-T 650 mAh battery and a Kanger MT3S clearomizer (I think, like I said, they weren't very helpful at the store). I think I need a back up or larger battery. Should I get a glass tank as well?

Like I said, I don't really know what I'm doing here. Teach me =)

You'll get a lot of recommendations. Most all will be foreign WORDS and/or LETTERS. Write them down and research them so they are familiar. If you don't - you buy a boat load of "stuff" and may hate it to death. GO SLOWLY and remember ALL the "recommendations" out here are just that - "RECOMMENDATIONS". They may or may NOT be right for you! YOU do the research - then go to the local shop and don't leave until they answer your queries. If they believe you are about to drop a load of cash -- they will get friendly really quickly.

Sounds like my local shop.. he is just in it for the money.. I knew more then him when I just started vaping... I watched YouTube videos a week before I started vaping and that's where I learned everything.

I started out with a glass tank.. never have used plastic. I love my protank 2 line.. the mini and regular. I tried the evod and I couldn't get myself to like it. Use the search through the forum and watch YouTube to educate yourself :)

Good advice. Might want to try an ego twist. Worked for me.

I agree. Being able to adjust the strength of your hits is really nice. I'd go with a Spinner instead of a Twist though. The numbers on a Twist are really hard to read, and they soon wear off, becoming nearly impossible to read. (Just don't get the stainless version of the Spinner. The numbers wear off on it too.)

I also agree on the Protank 2 Mini recommendations. It's a really nice tank, and it looks great on an ego style battery (as long as you get the mini version).

I searched your area for vape shops and it looks like your local shop is Razor Vapes? After looking at their website it appears they are only interested blowing huge clouds of vapor to impress themselves and other advanced vapors and selling advanced mods. Unfortunately customer service does fail when you get employees (and owners) that think that anyone with less knowledge are beneath their attention. This is a funny way to do business because most advanced vapors are going to go in, see the mod, hold it, see how it works, and then find it online and then order it cheaper. If they do not realize that they need to spend time with their new customers that they will be able to build their business for the future. A new store opened in my store recently (on the advice of the local vape club - which by the way has a closed membership and you need to be invited and approved by the leaders to join - I don't condone subohm cloud chasing in public so of course I have been rejected by them) and I walked in smoking a disposable cig-a-like, empty store, only 2 of the three owners in there, got a sneer from one of them, and the other one said hi without looking up from what he was doing (trying to wrap a coil) I looked around for a few minutes and when both looked away I pulled out my Nzonic mech with a kayfun lite+ and blew a huge 2ohm cloud of vapor. It was hilarious, their jaws dropped, and almost in synch they said "What is THAT???" I said you guys own a vape shop and you don't know what a mech and rba are from 4 feet away? thanks. good luck. bye. went back to my favorite vape shop where she was busy talking to 2 new vapors and showing them exactly how to charge, fill, change coils and clean their new starter kits, Her employee was helping 2 people at her tasting bar and one other person was looking at mods (in which I answered his questions on those)

in a nutshell - If they are too busy to help you, find a shop that will, if there are no other shops close by, ask your questions here, go through our recommendations carefully (look for the consensus), and shop online.

We have a shop here, they are very helpful but being this time of year when everyone is trying to quite cigs is a lousy time to stop by. They just opened up another location so business is good for them and I hope they make it. Try if you can going by the shop at odd hours and if they are not so busy you will get a real feel from them as to how helpful they are. I would think that a good business model would be to be as helpful as possible, they are fighting a huge uphill battle against on line buying and they need repeat customers!!!!

Suggestions suggestions suggestions.......... why buy anything "new"? You've been at it for three weeks and like what you have and it IS a good setup. Duplicate it so you have spares. Then buy stuff later ... it will all come in time. Buying now MIGHT just make you think your current setup is inferior and it is NOT. OR - you might hate the new stuff. You're moving too quickly IMHO.

Research - not buying because Jim Bob on a forum says it is "for you". Great for Jim Bob - and PERHAPS equally so for you - but all in good time. I have a ProTank2 and Mini ProTank2 ........ they vape just like my Kanger T3S. Don't jump too quickly into the "recommended stuff". It may be a big waste of dough. You have time.

I personally try to avoid this approach as a noob myself. Reason is because if they don't have the time to help me, they are going to try to up-sell me. I had one guy local here and he was the same way. Very short, very abrupt until he learned I was there for two full kits, extra heads, extra tanks, and loads of juice. Since my start, I have moved to online suppliers and reading everything here I can. I watched my first live Vapeteam show last night, and actually met another shop owner local to me. She was extremely pleasant and courteous right off the rip. Told me where her B&M was located, and gave me a brief rundown of what they offer/can order for me. This was all done with zero prompting on my part or asking many questions at all.

So bottom line, IMO, find a store your comfortable with. If you feel ignored or intimidated being new, that could lead to giving this up, and that's no good at all. Being here is a great start and the great majority are always willing to help.

I truly believe that the "research" is the most important. When one goes to a shop - any shop and asks detailed questions even new folks can tell if the answer is an upsell attempt or an answer to their specific question. No doubt some shops, probably far more than I realize, do exactly what shops should not do -- go to the higher price items. I made the mistake and was somewhat fooled. Now I know better and that same shop does not try to pull any fact ones; they answer the questions and if I want an item "right then" I will make the purchase. If they simply don't pay attention - certainly I will keep my money and go elsewhere. I did find that the LADIES are usually far more reliable than the guys. It can't be my masculine physique or golden "locks" - or even "luck"; I think ladies truly care about the customer.

The OP will do fine -- unless he follows the "gotta have the latest, biggest and flashiest" setup in the display. Folks here ARE helpful - yet, I see some who are only interested in showing off the quantity, supposed quality or cost of their "goodies". Easy to avoid as are the shops who are there only for the "volume of cash" they can brag about at the end of the day. To an extent my closest and best stocked shop is just this way; BUT, I know it and now (as opposed to when I was foolish) and don't let them take advantage.

Senile Old Man Don ............ YES - I do read the hate mail! No names of course - but they do find their way!:) It's OK! It's a "forum".:glare:

That would be the place =) I do have to say that the customers there have been great and very supportive/helpful, even if the employees really haven't been. When my brother-in-law bought his last week, he had to come have me show him how to fill it... they were too busy to show him anything. At least I got a quick run-down. It looks like there are a couple in my parents' town, so I might try going there, and I like shopping online, too.

I probably will just duplicate what I have, maybe with the exception of getting a glass tank. I'm really not interested in going more advanced right now. I have enough hobbies, I just want to vape =)

You are absolutely NOT clueless, because you knew enough to ask your question!

I bought my e-cig about 3 weeks ago to drop my 3/4 pack/day habit (it worked!) and I enjoy vaping far more than I ever enjoyed smoking. Should I get a glass tank as well?

Like I said, I don't really know what I'm doing here. Teach me =)
When I started vaping, I bought two Kanger Pro-tanks just because I didn't want to have to worry about whether or not the juice would affect the tank. Pyrex makes things easier.

For someone just getting into vaping, I would recommend Kanger, Anyvape Davides (A copy of the Kanger Protank line, only slightly cheaper) or the just-released Aspire Pyrex tanks.
