Just logged in here, saw your thread, and caught the last 2-3 minutes, which were a report on the latest battery "explosion," and a rehash of all the ANTZ/FDA arguments. Example: "ecig use has skyrocketed among youth." Skyrocketed???

Interesting stat: An estimated 4 million ecig users. (I assume that's in the U.S.) Would love to know where that came from. Anybody know?

Thanks for the headsup, jagster!

Sky-rocketing sales amongst children
40 Attorney Generals pushing for regulations

Totally 100% Anti-ecig piece
and animated images of ecigs emitting smoke like a real cigarette

OMFG ... dangerous E-cigs are not regulated

I just saw the piece. Sensationalized if you ask me! How many of us have been charging ecigs for years and never had one explode? Over two years-no explosions here! Of course I only use the chargers made for the particular ecig I'm using and moniter it while charging. How many children have died in smoking related fires in the last few years? How many have died in drunk driving crashes? Maybe we shouldn't let parents drink to protect their children? Risk is relative CNN!

Ignorant pieces like this shoveled into the ears/eyes of the ignorant masses almost makes you want to just give up, ridiculous. Not only are we fighting for e-cigs, we are fighting for use of common sense. Pretty disheartening, and pretty pathetic.

You think the anti-ecig lies and fear-mongering propaganda is bad now ??
Wait till the FDA makes public their "Proposed" demon regulations.
When that happens ... All hell will break loose !!

Well since you asked..... (this is what I could find on a quick search)
The fire report doesn't specifically mention children and both reports are a few years old, but I believe still relevant.

Smoking-Related Fires in Residential Buildings Report | 7/9/12 Press Release
According to the report, an estimated 7,600 smoking-related fires in residential buildings occur annually in the United States, resulting in an estimated average of 365 deaths, 925 injuries, and $326 million in property loss. While smoking-related fires account for only 2 percent of all residential building fires, they are a leading cause of fire deaths, accounting for 14 percent of fire deaths in residential buildings. In addition, cigarettes are, by far, the leading type of smoking material involved in residential smoking fires and account for 86 percent of these fires.

•Of the 1,210 traffic deaths among children ages 0 to 14 years in 2010, 211 (17%) involved an alcohol-impaired driver.1
•Of the 211 child passengers ages 14 and younger who died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes in 2010, over half (131) were riding in the vehicle with the alcohol-impaired driver.1
•In 2010, over 1.4 million drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.3 That's one percent of the 112 million self-reported episodes of alcohol-impaired driving among U.S. adults each year.4
•Drugs other than alcohol (e.g., ......... and .......) are involved in about 18% of motor vehicle driver deaths. These other drugs are often used in combination with alcohol.5

What is going to happen is that the government is going to create a thriving black market. Need juice? Look up your local "friendly" drug dealer.

Why do you think "they" have started to push for banning Internet sales ??
Not to open conversation about the black market thing .... AGAIN
because there have been tons and tons of discussions on that subject.
