Yeah I don't remove the whole thing with my fingernail, it would certainly rip off, but just to get it started for sure. I haven't tried to take it off without the soap/water, but I couldn't imagine getting it off without some lubricating assistance. That said, the last time I removed the tank it took me 10 minutes total, just going slow and being careful. It definitely does not come off easy. Sorry couldn't be of more help

the tank section is so tight, i'd rip my nail off trying that.
It wont spin or wiggle, if i put it upside down and push down into a table i can get the tank to come up about a millimeter but as soon as i let off the tension it goes right back down.

Did you try lubing the o-rings with plain VG? Take it down to an empty top plate. Work some VG into the tank/deck seam. Turn it over & push down on the tank. Squirt VG into the bottom gap. Repeat as necessary - rotating the tank as you go.
