So how should I go about removing the wick so I can dry fire it and check to see how it's lights up?

You don't need to remove the wick. You need to use a syringe, and remove the juice from the tank. Then, with the mod horizontal, keep dry firing in short bursts, until you see the coil begin to glow. When the wick is dry, you'll be able to see whether or not your coil is glowing evenly. If it isn't glowing evenly, you can gently bump the wires around, and work out the hot spots.

I got to the dry firing phase of your post and now I keep getting E1 and E8 errors on the ProVari.

E1 – Short Circuit / Shorted
Atomizer – If this error appears, remove the atomizer and replace with a different one or lower your voltage settings The ProVari will automatically reset when the problem is fixed or lower your voltage settings. The ProVari will automatically reset when the problem is fixed

E8 – Converter has detected a fault – Contact ProVape is this persists.

The E1 error is stopping me from getting the coil hot enough. I got the top two to glow but then couldn't get the others to due to the error. And the ProVari is kind of a pain, after 5 clicks it goes into the options settings.

I appreciate the side option, but I am determined to make this work! I would need to pick up some cotton, I don't have any on me at the moment. I am not objected to it, just determined.

How did you make that wick?

I understand completely! How did I make the wick or coil? I wrapped the wire around a 1/16 drill bit, stuck the bit down into the wick hole and attached the wires. To make the wick I twisted a piece of cotton and threaded it down through the coil.

I'm back.

I got past all the errors, it could of been there was still a little juice left in the tank.

There is a total of 5 coils from top to bottom.

1: The weakest of the top three by a slight amount
2: Glows same as 3
3: Glows same as 2
4: Barely lights up
5: Couldn't get to glow

sounds like you just need to toss it all and start over. the wick is shorting out the coil somewhere, somethings touching. sometimes when starting out you go through a few setups. at this point im sure theres a few burn holes and frayed spots on the wick not helping anything.

twist up a wick about 40 mm wide, roll it heat it with a lighter to take out the springiness, keep rolling till it just slides in the hole. take it out and and make a drill bit style coil, pull the bit and fire it a couple times to temper it then check the resistance. do a couple juice burns on that wick and slide it gently into the coil twisting it like a screw so as not to fark up the coils. try to fire the provari at very low power..lol the cobra puts hair on your chest. probably one of the toughest to master for a beginner.

OK. Thanks guys. I will buy some tools at the end of the week.

On the upside, my RSST Genesis will be here tomorrow!

The rsst is the easiest the get set up imo. It's kinda difficult to get a mesh genesis working on a provari but that's how I learned. I like the protection it gives. If it's not right, the provari will certainly let you know it LOL. It will fire a coil down to .8Ω but you have to have it set to 2.9v though. 1.2Ω with 30g is a good setup for it. Keep working with it.. watch lots of youtubes videos. I love watching Scott wrap a coil around mesh. He makes it look so easy.

I watched this video over and over. I know you aren't trying to set up a zap but the concept is exactly the same, and he's doing it on a provari.

yea put the cobra in the corner, get some dirt under the fingernails with a slightly more forgiving atty and come back to it later. i have genis here i can wrap the wire on the wickreal fast, drop the wick in, lock it down, a quick adjust and off we go. the cobra brought me to tears when i got it, now i have a specific routine for it that takes about 10 minutes and it usually lasts several weeks if not months. one of my fav atty's ever for the flavor. the only ones i like just as much are the DIDmini/gemini and the megatron.

but several atty's since the cobra have realized a reduced cap improves the flavor and there's def more choices now. i think theres even a chamber reducer for the RSST.

im really interested in the versa right now.
