Coffee powered taste buds

I spent about a half hour searching for an answer and didn't find exactly what I was looking for.

If I vape in the morning before coffee, it is harsh and has no taste. After a few sips of coffee it gets better and after a cup I am back to full taste and no harshness.

When I smoked analogs I had the same experience.

I believe my taste buds are coffee powered.

Does anyone else experience this?

That is strange. No it doesn't happen to me mine seem the same all the time I just didn't want you to think know one was listening.

Thanks. I always had a cup of coffee before my first cig of the day since it was always harsh and tasted nasty. Same with vaping. Kinda odd, Other than that, the vaping is great!

I know my brain isn't functional enough to process any sense stimuli until I've had at least one cup of coffee. That's not really what you're asking, I know. But that's how it is for me.

I do know one thing, most "taste" occurs in the nose, I just can't remember why I know this.

'Cos the tongue can only sense sweet sour bitter and salty - the rest is all nose.
OP - it could be the steam from your cup o'joe gives your sinus passages a moisten and so you are able to taste more after one.
Have you tried drinking other hot liquids?
How about cold ones?
Any differences?

I'm inclined to think it's the humidifier effect of a hot liquid under your nose. I know my morning cup clears the cobwebs in more ways tha one.
