Okay, so I just read something today about how cigarettes are one of those things that inhibit the processing of caffeine in the system, so by switching to vaping one probably feels the need for less caffeine naturally.

Not ME, of course, as I restricted my caffeine intake to only in the mornings long ago but I can see someone who formerly used to drink a lot more of it noticing a substantial decrease in desire to consume beverages that contain it.

Smoking was most enjoyable for me first thing in the morning with coffee. I would chain smoke 4 or 5 while powering through a whole pot. I've been vaping for over a month now and still continue to make coffee every morning but noticed I'm forcing myself to drink half a cup.....i think vaping got me off the coffee?!

Yep. I quit drinking coffee, by accident, EVERY ....SINGLE....DAY. Its called "end of the pot".

The same thing happened to me, quit drinking coffee! And I had no intention of doing that. Before vaping I'd drink three our four cups a day with lots of half and half. On weekends I got big latte's from the coffee shop. It was the first thing I did every morning and having that coffee with my analog was something I really enjoyed. I stopped drinking it pretty much the same day I started vaping. I have nothing against coffee, but the drive to have it just totally disappeared and it's interesting to see that's happened with others as well. I actually didn't notice for a few days. As a side note I also quit drinking soda and that wasn't on my agenda either. I now drink lots more water. And another side note, after vaping for 2 1/2 months, I lost 8 pounds and that wasn't on my agenda either! I think it's because of no more coffee with that big splash of half and half and no more soda.

Oh no. Naynay. Absolutely not. Not ever. If someone took away my nicotine I'd be irritable and on edge for a few days. If someone tried to take away my caffeine (coffee being my delivery method of choice) they'd pull back a bloody stump. I've been ingesting copious amounts of caffeine long before I started using nicotine, and I'll be ingesting copious amounts of it long after I've quit.

COFFEE IS EVERYTHING!

No no no no no. Having worked in Fire Rescue and Healthcare, the rule of "You take the last cup? You start the next pot!" is carved into my brain.

That's the way I am about the ice trays....lol

Unfortunately, the OTHER people in this house don't appear to feel the same way and it's aggravating, especially since one of them has a cow when she finds it empty and she's usually the culprit.

Or you have those who will pour a fractional cup in order to leave that "last cup and new pot obligation" for the next poor schlub who comes along. We called it "half-lifing" and some people were VERY good at that particular game.

Me? When faced with an old pot where no one was willing to just "do it", I would pour out the last cup of aged coffee, make the new pot and enjoy the first fresh cup from it.

I've not usually been in an environment where I drink coffee except at home and we only make a single pot a day.

The less nicotine that I consume, the more I feel the caffeine in coffee. I had to cut back on coffee a few months before I started vaping due to x-games blood pressure levels. I still go through a pot a day at a minimum. I am not opposed to decaf. Sometimes I will make a decaf k-cup instead of regular. I like the k-cups. Fresh cup every time. Otherwise, I would be drinking the last few dregs of a pot when needed.

When I was at a well, in the middle of absolutely nowhere in Romania, I was asked if I wanted coffee. "Yes," of course was the answer. The other option was hot Dr. Pepper. They made the coffee with a few spoonfuls of instant coffee, and hot Dr. Pepper. They had no drinking water... Yes, I drank the "coffee." It was some of the worst stuff I ever drank. Putting a couple cigarettes out in it may have actually helped. It was at that moment that I admitted to myself that I was powerless over coffee, and that my life had become unmanageable. The only real requirements had been that it is hot, black, and full of caffeine. No longer. My life has spun out of control. I will drink it iced, and even room temp, if needed. Doesn't need caffeine, but it is preferred. Black? Well, you should see the concoction they make for me at the local Starbucks, where my wife and I even get cards from the employees- were are definitely regulars.

At work, (especially since other stimulants such as nicotine are vilified) coffee is the "grease" that keeps everything moving smoothly. And so, the idea of an empty pot is a horror. One that I can't stand or that I am willing to inflict on my colleagues.

At home? A large French Press in the morning can last me all day since I am fine with room-temp coffee as long as it is good coffee. Water for hydration, coffee for maintaining a pulse. I usually drink much more water over the course of a day, and vape/coffee when my body says "hit me!"

I need to introduce you to some oilfield slang. Friction reducer is used to lower surface pressure requirements when pumping fluid down-hole. Telemetry vans, where data is monitored, typically has a coffee pot. That is also where the consultants stay during frac jobs. I refer to the coffee as "friction reducer." If there isn't any coffee, I guarantee that there is going to be some real friction during the job. Especially at 2 or 3 in the morning.
