Coffee steeping ?

I've been trying out some different coffee mixes. They've been steeping for about a week and still don't taste quite right. I hear coffees can be tricky.

My question is how long do you guys usually give it before you decide it's crap and toss it?

I waited a month and it turned out great. A bit overpowering but mixed some RY4 double and it's awesome.
