Hey, few days off analogue now and pretty happy all around (long time 2+ pack a day smoker). I've been using 24mg nic prefilled cartos with a Green Smoke kit.

I've always been a heavy coffee drinker right along with my bad smoking habit. Also always had a problem properly hydrating, and I'm worried this may get worse with vaping and still drinking 4-8 cups of coffee a day. Will increasing just my water intake keep this practice safe, or do I HAVE to lower the coffee to continue vaping safely?

With vaping, it is important to keep hydrated (since it will make you thirsty), but I don't think it will be any worse than when you smoked. I don't drink quite as much coffee as you do, but I still drink about 3-4 cups a day and have no issues. I also don't drink plain water either, I usually drink coffee and tea all day. I'd say just keep a drink around in general, it doesn't HAVE to be water, of course, I'm no doctor by any stretch of the imagination lol.

both PG and VG will work to dehydrate you a bit, so it is important to increase your water intake when you vape. Especially when you first get started, it helps with flushing out all the gunk in your system, plus you will start to produce some phlegm in the next week or two, as your lungs start to purge the gunk in them from years of smoking, having more water in your system will make this process easier.

While the coffee doesnt help your hydration levels, I did not find I needed to cut my coffee consumption down, I just upped my water level up by about 15% or so.

It is also my experience that the extra water helps avoid "vapers tongue", those that dont hydrate enough seem to get this more than others do.

I don't measure my coffee consumption in cups, I measure it in pots, 3-5 a day. "They" recently decided that coffee can be counted as daily water intake, funny, I always knew it could because otherwise I would already be dead.
I will add that my consumption is down a little since vaping, must be the extra stimulant.

Hey OP, get a refillable tank setup and a variable watt mod, you will not be sorry :)

Thanks for the responses guys.

FallenRawToast - If I just need to keep the water intake up, then I'm golden - really don't want to give up the coffee, since I'm still in the process of giving up the analogues. I've read some about vaper's tongue, which I haven't experienced yet but I am probably prone to. Either way, it seems like lots of water is going to be useful. Thanks for the info!

Davey59 - I hear you. 4-8 cups is a low estimate for me, but I'm certainly not at your level of coffee consumption. Good to know that the water in coffee counts, though! I've got a supply of prefilled carto's coming that should give me enough time to consider better options like a tank and mod as you describe. I just don't know what I'm looking for or even where to start. I like the prefilled cigalike because it requires little to no effort, while the cheaper and better solutions take some more insight and research. Hopefully my prefills will cover me while I figure out if I can manage any of this other stuff!

I vape ALOT, I drink a pot of coffee a day. But in between cups I will take a few swigs of water. Keeping the water intake for me helps me not feel "thirsty". I also throw in a coke or a glass of orange juice in there too. As water is kinda meh (No flavor). On a good day I can drink about 1-3 quarts of water a day. It all depends on how much vaping I am doing.

I found after 2-3 months of vaping that I was processing caffeine and sugar better. I suspected, after some research, that my liver did not have to process all of the chemicals in cigarette smoke, so it was really efficient with caffeine. The result was something like running around like a headless chicken. I had to switch to more decaf and some half-caf for awhile. After another 6-7 months I was back to normal.

That's interesting. I kinda had the same feeling when I quit smoking/chewing for vaping.

I'm the same way, pretty heavy coffee drinker. Came down with vape tongue a few days after I made the switch. Since that day I've been drinking 12 or more glasses of water a day and the difference is incredible. I realized that with all the coffee and analogs that I've been dehydrated for years. I try to drink a decent size glass of water after each vape session. The increased water intake has helped me significantly cut down my diet pop consumption. Good luck!

What most people fail to point out or notice, is that your body wants what it is use to. If you drink a lot of coffee, it wants coffee!
I never say "Drink more water!", I always say "Drink more liquids!"
I do suggest you supplement with more water than you use to drink, that's always a good idea. You may even want more water, I know I have, so drink it.
Just don't stop drinking what you normally drink and go to straight water only. That's just going to add another shock to your system.

Coffee, assuming it's a 'long' coffee like regular real coffee made in a cafetiere, filter, latte, etc. even Cappucino - hydrates you far more than it dehydrates you. The diuretic properties of caffeine don't even come into effect below a certain dose.
So much guff is talked about coffee. Exactly like vaping.

All the health freaks say you must drink a glass of water after you have a coffee - this is trash. It is only really applicable IMHO with 'short' coffees like Turkish espresso, etc. that don't contain a high water/caffeine ratio.

It hydrates you and gives you a dose of caffeine, which is a relatively harmless stimulant, and I've read studies recently to suggest it helps with cognitive ability, and alzheimer's (not proven yet I don't think).
Coffee IMHO is an elixir, and you should all carry on. Just make the the coffee you drink is a good quality. Clean, fresh, aromatic.

Now I'm not saying do a packet of Pro Plus pills a day - but a few coffees can only do you good IMHO (assuming you don't have some kind of weird underlying condition such as irregular heart, in which case you shouldn't do any stimulants).

to ecf Fattlestar. So glad you are here. I know I have read fifty-eleven times to increase your water, so I sort of hate to admit this but I never did. I hate water except in the shower. I have never had any problems that I know of. Just read about the effects and look for them I guess. I'm not going to lower my vaping or coffee.

Good luck to you and don't hesitate to ask about anything. Always some wonderful people here that can help. Have fun and happy vaping to you.

as a potential double bonus.. some people swear that coffee (and lots of it) is a cure for vapors tongue.
