Coil "breaking" in dual coil build

I'm not really sure if it is called breaking but I have a Smoktech Caterpillar RDA which has been performing great when I first got it. I have been building dual coils on it since I got it, usually between .8-.5 ohms. Over time it started not hitting as well and now only one side of my builds work. I can build dual coils on it still but when I fire them up without any wick, both coils turn red when fired however one side always "breaks" or just burns in half.

Has anyone experienced this and is there a fix for it?
Could it be the RDA?
My other RDA(Nimbus clone) performs good with the same builds.

It's not really clear what you are describing. Is the coil physically breaking?

If you tighten down the screws too tight it can break the wire; if the one screw has a sharper tip it could happen more often. If this is the case, a few quick passes on a file should smooth it out.
