Hi all

Ive got a genesis atty and over the past 3 weeks ive built 2 wicks. They seem to be ok but as im new ive got nothing to compare them to. Ive got all my info from YouTube.

After my last 2 builds id just like to get your advice/input on how i build

i roll my mesh

Run a blow torch over it 3 times making sure the wick glows red everytime

put e liquid over the wick and burn 3 times

pop the wick into my atty

burn the wire until it turns red

wrap one end of wire around the negative post, 4 wraps around the wick, wrap wire around the positive post

screw everything down and trim wire

pop it on an ohm meter making sure it between 1-1.5 ohms

pulse until all coils heat together

Fill tank and blow some clouds

hows that sound to you? Anything im missing? Anything you do differently? Anything i can improve on? Why cant my wife cook?

Sounds like you've got coil building on a Genny figured out... as for the ability to choose a mate.... if she can't cook, she better be good at something!! :D

If that 'something' is the same 'something' we're both thinking about no not that either lol

Would someone be able to tell me the differnce between differnt wire gages (think im using the right term) and any good brands i need to look out for?

Also the different mesh types ie 400, 500 etc. not sure what the numbers mean. I got all my coil building stuff from a beginners pack

LMAO! That sucks, man! Guess you'll be putting all of your energy into vaping then? ;)

Wire gauges aren't too hard. The smaller the number, the bigger the wire... the bigger the wire, the lower the resistance... Kanthal A-1 is what I use primarily (brand doesn't really matter, I don't think)

As for mesh, I got tired of that a long time ago... I wick EVERYTHING with rayon (cellucotton) now... I don't have a genny anymore, but plan on getting another one soon, so I'm gonna try it with rayon and see what happens...

you put eliquid on the wick then burn 3 times? yu shouldnt put eliquid untill after yu dryburn and are just about ready to vape.

Nope, you've definitely got one of the most challenging rebuildable atomizer systems working for you well. Personally I did hollow wicks out of #500 mesh and pre wrapped a microcoil, maybe 9 wraps of 28 gauge and slid it over the wick. The hollow wick allowed the air to travel down the wick into the tank, and the juice travels up the mesh. Worked really well, but my genesis days are over since I got into my Reo and rebuildables

Main problem I had with Genny's was I had to dilute my juice like crazy because the 100% VG didn't do well. I never tried SS cable, or ceramic wicks, but I may in the future. I'm certainly going to want a decent genesis to go with the Provari P3 when it comes out. The Pyrex RSST did extremely well when I had my Provari v2.5. I used the pair together for months before I bought my Reo.

The best place in the UK to get your wires and mesh from is the vape mesh company. It is run by a bloke called Chris, he is really helpful and usually quick to respond to any email questions you may have.

Link: http://www.vape-atomizer-mesh.com/

The prices are really good and he usually throws in a freebie (sometimes a sample of another wire gauge, sometimes he does buy one get one free). Service is quick too. I have not got any wire etc from anywhere else since I found the site.

As Kaezziel said, basically with the wire gauge AWG (American Wire Gauge) the higher the number the thinner the wire (eg. 36AWG is way thinner than 28AWG).
The thicker the wire the lower it's resistance is (per length).

The thicker wire takes longer to heat up, so to use it effectively you need to increase the power supplied.

Is this wrong? I was under the impression this had to be done to put a layer of carbon on the wick before you start winding the coil around

The only improvement advice I see needed is Vape a tankful, the flavor is much better after that first tank on a new wick.

I think ive noticed a slight metalic taste after building my first 2 wicks. This may help thanks:)

This sounds like exactly the type of site i was looking for to get my supplies. Thanks for the advice:)

No it is not wrong, some folks do this and some don't. It boils down to what works for you

That will go away after you vape a couple ml, some folks call this "seasoning the wick"

Will try out hollow wicks for my next build. Thanks:)

I also prefer hollow wicks, it is less metal mass to rob heat from your coil

Great job for a mesh noob
