Wow, another Vape shop doing a disservice to a new Vaper. Ok, first things first do you have a Digital Multi-Meter (DMM) or a least a $20 Ohm reader from the Vape shop? Also, what kind of batteries are you using? What kind of charger do you have? What is the resistance of the coil they set you up with?

The imr 10a will be no good for any builds with 22 or 24. the efest is a 20 amp rated battery that will work fine for most of your needs. You could use an upgraded charger like an efest luc, nitecore, or xtar. Get something to check your resistance levels so you dont blow a hole in your hand or the side of your face

Alright, so you're somewhat set up. The ohm meter is a must since you need to know the resistance of the build you are using. Most DMMs have this capability. If yours doesn't or you don't trust it, you will need to pick up a separate ohm meter from your local Vape shop. Since you are using a mechanical mod, you will also need to check your battery voltage. Luckily measuring DC voltage is easy to do and your DMM should work fine. The charger should quit charging at 4.2V (double check with your meter and don't let the batteries sit in the charger after charging is complete) and never drain your batteries below 2.5V. For safety sake and battery life try to replace them between 3.3-3.6V.

While you are at it, if you have a smart phone, get either Stream Engine or Vapor's Toolbox. You can play around with different settings to see what kind of build would result in what resistance (or close). Don't build ANYTHING until you have the means to test the resistance and check for shorts. Based on your batteries, don't build below 0.5 Ohms and I would suggest staying above 1.0 Ohms until you get comfortable. Once again, you will need to be able to read your resistance before you can get started.

Search for Baditude's (resident battery safety expert) blog about battery safety and read, read, read! Let us know when you measure the resistance of your current set up that the Vape shop built for you.

Edit: Buy a new DMM, just saw that your is broke. And if your mod is getting hot, that's bad!

I used a friend's ohm meter and it says. 15 ohms

I take it you mean 0.15 ohms, correct?

If so, that resistance will draw 28 amps from the battery when the battery is fully charged at 4.2 volts. None of your batteries are good enough to support that much current so they will heat up. The 10 amp batteries are downright dangerous at 28 amps. Get them too hot and they go into thermal runaway and they'll vent.

I suggest you stop vaping that build and either go back to the shop and ask for a 0.6 ohm minimum build or rebuild it yourself.

I am going to head to the Vape store first thing tomorrow. Thx for all the help so far and I just finished reading baditudes battery safety. Never knew any of that

I highly recommend you spend some more time with Baditude (our resident battery expert) and visit his blogs. You are now 100% in control of your own safety (and others around you). Make sure you purchase an ohm reader (if you don't already have one) and a voltmeter or DMM so you can measure your builds, check for shorts and measure the remaining charge on your batteries. That's what I was thinking. I just bought some stuff to make my own it should be in this weekend or early next week. I had a feeling it was really low ohm because of how hot my topper and k100 were getting. But the weird thing is that my batteries did not get hot at all. I just bought a ohm meter some 28g kanthal and a xtar vp1 charger. Next on my list is a Sony vtc5 battery and possibly a new mod
