Coil ideas?

In another thread I mentioned that I just started building coils a few weeks ago. I started out on an Omega and have a hard time with the learning curve as for me it is a PITA to build. Someone suggested that the post holes weren't supposed to be there and that I should build it by screwing down wires. I haven't tried this yet as my Magma should be here any minute in the mail now. Anyway, I've only built a single micro coil on the Omega because it's all I could find myself able to do with the recessed post holes so close to the deck beneath the well wall. I'm just looking for new ideas on coils to wrap and insight on what the differences between micro's and macro's are. Obviously i know the macro's are bigger and will have more resistance, but I want to know what is different about them while vaping them. And again really looking for a different coil than a micro to start practicing with too, but not something so advanced like the dragon or stove top coils. Thanks to all you pros out there. We all started as noobs right?

It takes practice and I fail, well, I don't always get the ohm or good build that I want. About half the time since I am meticulous.

I build mostly on the weekend and vape 1 or 2 ml that evening. Usually during football on Sundays I spend the most time tinkering.

During the week, I am just to busy. Maybe if someone took away all my tanks, I would prioritize rebuilding.

Life's okay.

The omega is a b*tch to build on. One trick I've found is to take your leads and try to make them rounded instead of straight, and keep both leads from each coil different lengths. This way, after you've fed the leads through the holes, longer one first, as you push the coil in closer to the posts, it will slowly rotate itself into place, avoiding the deck lip that loves to get in the way.

Good luck and vape safe!

I haven't messed with the Omega, but what AMTSEUNG said, always have one lead longer than the other... once you get the longer one in, then the second one can be positioned easier.

As far as micro or macro coil goes, It's a matter of personal choice. The whole idea behind the ecig, is surface area to hot wire produces more vapor. Depending on what you're working on and with can determine what coil suits you best. If you're using a mechanical mod, you only have the raw battery power. If you have a Variable wattage device, then you have a lot more options open to you. My personal preference is 28 gauge for my all day vaping with my mechanical or variable wattage in my rebuildable tanks. I like 32 gauge for my lower wattage mods (my 15W vamos), and when I drip, I go down to a 26 or 24 gauge wire. I have a Mutant X on the way, so I'll probably do a macro coil on a 24 gauge on my high wattage mod just for the experience.

Pretty much, it's user dependent. Try a micro, then try a macro, and see what you like better. There might be slight differences between the two, but I can't tell. Since there are many other options affecting vapor/flavor production, there's no way to tell which one is which IMO.

I have a igo-w3 and am going to try and install them as dual vertical coils and see what happens. They sort of like to twist in that way to start anyhow. I am still trying to hone in my coil building skills so anything too crazy will just piss me off. I have some nichrome coming in the mail so this is the perfect excuse to tear apart my currently functioning build.

And I like the steam calculator in my signature. In the advanced view you kind of get an idea of what will be happening at a given wattage. Total surface area and how hot the vape will be at a given wattage.
