What's up guys, first post here although I have browsed this forum and spent hundreds of hours on here and love it! I just recently started with rda's about 3 weeks ago, and my first purchase was an Omega. Bad choice on my part, as I have found this quite difficult to learn on as opposed to other rda's I have seen. The second week I had my Omega I ordered a Magma RDA by Paradigm (this looks to be a good one to learn on) which will be my vape mail today! I've done 6 builds on my Omega so far, and cannot seem to shake the "hot" vape no matter what I do. Does anyone have some insight on what may be causing this? Side note: I use organic cotton and have 28ga and 26ga Kanthal on hand and am also looking for build suggestions as every coil I have wrapped so far is just a micro coil. Thought about trying some macro coils today, are there any benefits of a macro? Pros cons? Other build suggestions? I'm very excited to be a member of the forum now and wish I would have registered a long time ago!

What do you mean by "hot" vape? Is the vapour just too hot? If so you're building too low. Increase your ohmage until you're at a temperature you enjoy. Which mod are you running?

I'm using an ipv2 usually at 1-1.5 ohms. I just got my magma unboxed out of the mail, and it doesn't sit flush on my ipv2 :/. I'm reading a lot of threads that say the center pin can be adjusted, but in the packaging that my ipv2 came in it specifically says not to adjust it. So now I'm working on this issue before I do my first build on it.

Yea. I think it's just going to take practice. I really want to get this Magma built and get some pics up to see what people think of my micro coils since that's the only one I've been building.

Micro and macro are relative terms. Micro coils tends towards an inner diameter between 1/16" (1.5mm) and 3/32" (3mm ish), macro coils as anything bigger, and nano coils as anything smaller. The only advantage of a macro coil would be a smaller number of wraps for the same resistance, with the drawback of a smaller wick to coil surface contact area, as well as space. Nano coils generally only work well as dragons, imo. I'd say stick with the micro coils. Nothing wrong with those.

I'd love to see some pictures. :3

I would try to start with something similar to this for your Magma, which by the way is a GREAT starter RDA. This is with 26 gauge, 8 wraps. Resistance on this was right around 0.6. Just a simple dual micro, will produce killer flavor.

Also a good pointer for the building on the Magma. Leave a good sized gap between your coil and the airhole underneath. I always wanted to hover really close to the airhole, BUT this really encourages leaking. When raised up significantly, you will not leak. Enjoy your Magma friend!

Another shot, Magma is on the right but blurry.
I also suggest trying a twisted 28 guage dual micro, another great build for the Magma. Start simple with your builds and work to perfect them. Micro, macro, nano. Than start messing with twisted, parallel, tiger, etc. I wish I could give you a measurement on how far up set your coil from the air holes, but I am just not sure. I can get about half of my index fingernail underneath it......lol as if that helps any! I will try to snap some better pics of coil height later today as this is a huge factor when dealing with the Magma.

Hey guys! Overwhelmed by the support here at ECF! Loving the community already! I just got off work, going to be building a bit tonight so pics will be coming through the night! I already built a single micro 28g on it, didn't like it too much, so I try a twisted 28g and vaped it all day and loved it! I'm going to twist up some 26g and try to throw a dual coil on there and see how I like that :) You guys are awesome and I'm super excited to be a part of the family here at ECF! Happy vaping everyone!

That looks like a good start bud, hope you enjoy the journey of building. You will save so much money over buying heads, and get MUCH better enjoyment and flavor from doings things this way. Remember that their are tutorials on youtube all over the place for building, don't let it overwhelm you!

Gotta start somewhere I suppose! I'm already loving the journey personally. I get enjoyment out of trying to perfect anything I pick up. It's crazy how much money one can save my doing things this way. I couldn't believe the prices for a roll of kanhtal and some organic cotton. About the same price for 2-3 heads, which is crazy to me. The only youtube channel I really watch for coils is RIP I really like his vids. I really like your dual twisted build below, and I think this will be my next build. I tried out a single twisted last night before I threw the dual micro on there, and it chucked so much more vape and flavor than a regular micro. I'm thinking the dual twisted in turn would do the same compared to the dual micros I already have? Do you have one set of your leads through the post holes and one set clamped by screws? Oh I also have to mention the dual I have on it was the first build I could vape higher than 30 watts without it being too hot of a vape, and I'm loving it at 45 watts. 2 second pulls for the densest vapor I've been able to produce yet! Thanks for the feedback and support as always!

Both sets of wires fit perfectly through the post holes, you have to get them in right beside each other to fit them, which is a plus because then your screw will snug up both wires evenly for best contact. The wire you see sticking up is just the excess lead hanging out, and I always cut them as short as possible and bend them straight up and push them against the post. It's a tight fit, but you can get it.

If you can't get it, twist some 28 with some 26 and that will be a bit easier to fit.

Here is a vid of some vapor production with the twisted 26 I threw together.
