So over a month after first bought and 3 weeks after the defective one was delivered... in the wee hours today I picked up a replacement 521 Tab at my mail place. I've tried one Nuppin' and one Chalice in it so far, and they did thread in where they wouldn't in the first one received. But until I've had it long enough to try all my other model atty's in it I still have reservations about the 510.
I see the possibility of using it for checking values of wire and coils that are not mounted, coil builds when installed in atty's without and with caps on for value and shorts. Maybe for pulsing new wire to anneal it, but for sure for pulsing coil builds before I wick/put the atty on a Reo. The later because I see no reason to run down a batt in a Reo doing it when the Tab will do it with just the flick of a switch after checking the build. I like being able charging it's batt with the supplied 6" USB cable as it will sit next to the USB hub on my desk. I doubt I'll use it as a build stand, know I will not use the voltage options.
How well it holds up only time will tell. But if it does die I won't buy another one.
After this experience that all falls back on the MFG, the Tab gets no thumbs up or thumbs down from me for now...
ETA: To clarify the above for a more exact picture of the CS I got from CM... the same day the defective original was received they also shipped a replacement without me even requesting it because they realized the first of them had issues. But tracking was frozen on that one for weeks and it never showed up. This replacement that I did just pick up I did request from them direct. It was shipped 9/15 and had been sitting in my mail box since 9/19. So of the 3 they supposedly sent the 2 I actually received both made the trip from China to me quite fast.
