The height of the set screw used as a stop is multiple times larger then the diameter of the wire.

One of them is supposed to be counter sunk to solve issue 1 above I think.

The post you've chosen on the winding end of the tool is intended for wires gauged 20-26, I think. I know that when I end up winding a "stove top" coil, that's the very first thing I check. Move the screw to the inner threaded hole.

My learning curve involved discovering I could only put enough pressure in that part of the jig to actually guide it. The jig will create the tight-wound coil on it's own... let it do the work. Very gentle hand wins the day.
