Kanthal and Nichrome are the main 2 coiling materials, where kanthal is more commonly used.
Silver and Nickel, also known as NI200 for the nickel wire are both no-resistance wires, e.g. they have extremely low resistance and should only be used together with a DNA40 mod for NI200 only, not silver. Silver wire is used to create NR-R-NR wires, e.g. make 'legs' to a resistance wire using wire welder which uses high current in short bursts to weld together 2 parts of wires, NR-R-NR wires are mostly used in some
tanks where using only resistance wire, like kanthal, is not the possibility, like Atmistique Diver, a rebuildable cartomizer made mostly for Billet Box, but can be used with carto
tanks also.
G-Plat is overpriced, so-called 'better' resistance wire but in reality it is just overpriced 316L Cold Drawn wire, e.g. normal 316L stainless steel wire, which costs a fraction of G-Plat's cost.
All in all, best way to coil in my opinion is to use Kanthal from a reputable vendor, like The Crazy Wire Company or any other company, some people prefer to order kanthal in spools from Tesco.
