Coil numbers (4/3, etc.) -- what do they mean?

When someone talks about the coils they have built by using numbers (4/3 for example), what exactly does that mean?

This is what I think it means:
5/6 wrap = 5 wraps of wire, 6 coils produced
3/4 wrap = 3 wraps of wire, 4 coils produced, etc. etc.

no its big number than little number because if you say 4/3 its 4 on the outside of the coil and then 3 and the inside. like this.

Look at the coil from the top, how many wires do you see? Not look at it from the bottom, how many wires do you see? Those are the two numbers. 3/4 and 4/3 are the same.
