Coil to airhole distance?

I use an rta (Taifun) where the airflow comes up from the center, aimed at the bottom of the coil. Would someone know of the effect the distance from the airhole to the coil would be? In other words, what effect would varying the distance have on vapor, flavor or throat hit?
