That makes sense. I keep seeing the thread about micro coils and it makes me think a little. I haven't seen the micro wrapped coils on ceramic in that thread.
Personally, I prefer more spacing on the coils, especially for ceramic wicks. I feel like it utilizes more area on the surface to help the wicking to keep up. Any time I tightly spaced the coils, the wick would dry out quickly on the coil area.

The AGI is a tricky devil depending on the reistance you are going for and what gauge wire. I don't like to go lower than 1.2 and when I used 28g it was a struggle to get enough wraps spaced out to get that high, especially with the low positive post. I went to 30g and it is much easier to get higher resistance and still space out the wraps.
Also, I have been using ribbon kanthal lately on my ceramic and it works very well as long as you can keep it tight enough. Took me a couple of broken wicks to get the hang of it, but I can wrap them easily now on the device and haven't broken a wick since. Sort of walking a fine line, if you will. Here is one setup (wraps look close but for ribbon they really aren't):

Gave me about 1.4ohm with .04 ribbon kanthal I believe ( I have since switched to .02- closer to 30g round)
