Here is what I have found:
Smaller bore coils with more wraps that are scrunched together so they are touching produce a brighter flavors. They also seem to run much cleaner than a large bore evenly spaced coil. In the following pictures, both coils are roughly 1.2 ohms, but picture 1 has large bore, picture 2 has micro bore (1/16" or less ID). I no longer use large bore, evenly spaced coils, rather I prefer micro bore by a large margin.

You will also notice that you can add a few wraps and increase the resistance above your typical sweet spot and it is even more spectacular tasting.

▲what he said▲ Only I vape a lower res. coil than S_X_D, So, His micro coils caramelize my juices! (That's some hot s__t).
Vaping @ .6-.8Ω my sweet spot is a 5 wrap of 26 or 28g on a 7/64 ID.

I used to do 4 wraps like S_X_D's top pic. That was a mellow cigar-like vape. Now, this tight 5 gives me fast kick, great flavor, without roasting my plums ;)

Bro, "cigar like" is the perfect analogy of the way thick coils vape. Well said pdib.

Check this beast out. 1.71 using 30 ga Kanthal a1 wrapped around a picture hanging nail. Stuffed a rope of rolled cotton thru it and it is KILLIN IT.
Vapes as good as a chalice.

This is a brand new atty that REO just put on the street. The kicker - it's only $43!!! Hell yeah.

Nice! I would jump on that if I had a bottom-feeder. So when you make the coil that long do you aim the air-hole at the center or off to the side?

Actually that coil is pretty short :). Its just so small in diameter that it looks long. The airhole hits just off center. That RBA would probably be a great dripper because the base is sloped to the center and that hole is high. You could easily build the coil on the other side if the posts and or plug the hole. As a matter of fact, it started its life as a dripper. REO mods em to be bottom fed. Is a nice solid chunk o gear.

That does sound like an awesome dripper. Do you know what brand it is that REO modded, and if the ceramic cup was their addition? If they made other improvements other then making it bottom fed I'd pick one up from them and plug the hole.

I believe it's called a Bauway or something. I believe the only mod Rob made was to to the base, but I'm not sure. It is a sweet atty.

You could just get a REO too and be set - dripping without actually dripping :)

Ha! Probably one day, I like the idea of a REO. I rarely vape the same flavor more than an hour or two at a time so have no need now for one, but if I settle down with flavors I'm gonna jump on a REO.
