Here is what I have found:
Smaller bore coils with more wraps that are scrunched together so they are touching produce a brighter flavors. They also seem to run much cleaner than a large bore evenly spaced coil. In the following pictures, both coils are roughly 1.2 ohms, but picture 1 has large bore, picture 2 has micro bore (1/16" or less ID). I no longer use large bore, evenly spaced coils, rather I prefer micro bore by a large margin.
You will also notice that you can add a few wraps and increase the resistance above your typical sweet spot and it is even more spectacular tasting.

▲what he said▲ Only I vape a lower res. coil than S_X_D, So, His micro coils caramelize my juices! (That's some hot s__t).
Vaping @ .6-.8Ω my sweet spot is a 5 wrap of 26 or 28g on a 7/64 ID.

I used to do 4 wraps like S_X_D's top pic. That was a mellow cigar-like vape. Now, this tight 5 gives me fast kick, great flavor, without roasting my plums
