Hi guys. :) I've currently got some vape gear coming from fasttech. They decided to split my shipping as one of the things I ordered is the Authentic Coil Master 521 Mini V2 Tab which has been restocking for ages. In fact, they're out of stock of both Coilmaster tabs and the Geekvape one.

The ETA keeps moving and has changed again for about the 3rd or 4th time. There's a ton of other resistance devices on their site but should I stick with Coilmaster for accurate ohm readings? I'm betting that anything which isn't Coilmaster or Geekvape won't be as precise? Thanks.

used to use coil reader now i just use a dna/yihi/votech mod to read ohm why waste more money

Yep, I hear you. Well, I've been building on my mods for years but fancied having a dedicated rebuilder deck. Not least because I've had issues matching my coil resistances with what the steam coil calculator says it should be for various wraps.

There's going to be some variance with the online calculator because they calculate leg length etc.. and yours at home won't always be so exacting..

Just know the Mini Tab won't read below .2 ohm I believe, and for some this is an issue..

If your in the U.S., Element Vape says they have the coil master in stock..

And yes, stick with the Coil Master or the GeekVape.. Smok makes one but I wouldn't buy one of their mods these days let alone trust them for an ohms reader.

I like it for a few reasons. It's a stable base to build on (yes, I am the type who might knock the mod over while building and wicking), allows you to both check resistance and dry burn, and you can prime up the coils and wicks before reassembling without the worry of getting juice on your mod.

That said, so far the resistance measured by both tab and mod agree, but on my rdas going on mechs I do a second check on a mod to be sure the resistance is correct (OCD but that's me).

Another reason is I can't build on my mech squonks because one, I would never rely on Steam Engine alone for determining the resistance and two assuring there are no shorts before mounting. But it also means when I prime up the rda with a BF pin I'm not risking juice heading down onto the 510 of a non-squonk mod. Sure, a little bit might get into the 510 on the tab, but I clean it out and if it fails it's a lot cheaper to replace than my mods. Overall, it's one of my better investments for cheap build tools (and no, I don't think that tab deluxe that looks like a flying saucer is worth anything close to the ~$60 vs. the $15-20 for the regular one).

I have a Tab, a Tab mini, and a cheap dedicated ohmmeter like this:

I use the original Tab the most and have the mini and the other for back-up.

Really, I use it as a stable base for building, checking for shorts on a mech build, and firing my coils so I don't really worry about accuracy much - a 0.0X deviation doesn't matter much at my target resistances. You could get by with a regulated mod, but I like the stability of the meter.
