Clapton is one of the coil that offers good flavour because the juice is able to sink into the coil itself, thus significantly increasing surface area. I'm using it and have been getting great flavour.
BUT, it has much longer heat up time (about 1 second). And it has longer cool down time too so even after you stop drawing, it will still continue to vaporize the juice for about 2 seconds (wasting juice).

Clapton coils are great. Some might tell you more complex variations might offer greater wicking but wicking doesn't get any better beyond fused claptons. I build complex build for the sake of enjoying building them. Also try nichrome or ss wire if you plan to use claptons on mechs, way better ramp up.
