coils reading way off

i bought some premade fused clapton coils to try out before i purchase materials to wrap ones identical. problem is i bought a set of coils that estimated a resistance .55 as a pair. 2x28/40 all kanthal 10 wrap, 3mm id. they are ohming out at a .86-.88 as a pair. and the vape is quite faint compared to the 26/32 dual single core claptons 6-7wrap 3mm at a resistance of .50 i was wrapping and using before. is there something i did wrong. never had this much variance in any other coil install ive ever done. and just like the manufactuerers estimate, steam engine seems to be right in line with a .55 too. why are these ohming out so high. btw im runnng these on a series mech. thanks

You didn't mention if you dry burned the coils to check if they were glowing evenly from inside to out.
It looks like to tested on both an ohm meter and a mod, so the resistance is what it is. You could try dismounting it an removing a few loops of coil, remounting and testing again. This will also reduce the mass of the coils which will help with ramp up time. Remember with claptons the outer wrap carries no current, it is only heated by the core wire and will require a lot of power to heat even with 8 volts.

thru some research i think.they messed up and sent me the wrong coils. i think they sent me 2x30/40 which would ohm out to about what im getting.i temovrd two wraps on each coil at im sitting at a .66 now. but its kinda defeating my purpose trying to get mass in my series mod. im hoping they will at least comp me a different set of coils. im rethinking a bit anf maybe even a 10 wrap kanthal wint get me where i wanna be. maybe some 12 wrap n80 at about a .35-.40 would be good and still lots of mass. thank for the reply
