Maybe I coined a new term, I dunno.

I'm thinking of "cold turkey" vaping. I haven't gotten my kit yet, and have been using throwaways which are pretty horrible.

I've had to quit smoking twice for 2-3 month periods. Since I already KNOW I can quit smoking cold turkey (my preferred method) it will be a LOT easier to vape on some great cappuchino and pie flavors which I didn't get to do before.......!!!

So, I may just bite bulllet here and do 0% nicotene when I get my kit.

My experience with nicotine is that, due to the addictive quality of the drug, I can't "get off" it if I keep putting it in me. There is a lot of science behind this. The actual physical addiction goes away when you stop using it.

Here's why this might work for *me*....... I've bare-knuckled it a few times, 10-15 days cold turkeying, with no patch, no gum, not drugs.

My problem is psychological. I was a thumb sucker as a baby. I love the hand movement, the puffing and the blowing of smoke, etc. Even after I quit I usually keep reaching for things, cigs, lighter etc. I tend to be a "fidgety" person.

So I'm thinking that just vaping alone will work for me.........and I think I may either go 0% nicotene right off the bat, OR, do an extremely accelerated notch down to get to 0% rather quickly.

I do not WANT to be addicted to nicotine at all. Whether in cigs or in vape.

Have any of you done this? I read a post from a gal who wasn't a big smoker, started using hubby's vaping stuff, and liked it, and she's doing 0% so I guess there is some % of 0-nicotene vaporers out there?

If you read my blog posts, you'll see that I started off vaping 0 nicotine, and it didn't work for me. I had been quit off and on for quite awhile before I decided to give vaping a try. I ended up going up to something like 31mgs nicotine, and then quickly tapering off to 0 nic. I'm not saying you can't start off with 0 nic and have it work. I'm just saying, if it dosen't work for you, do what I did, and taper off of it. For me, I think it was getting my brain used to/accepting ecigs as opposed to analogs, and finding my 'sweet spot'....after that, I found it quite easy to step down. Good luck to you!!!

I quit the first day I started vaping, but I didn't do it on 0mg of nicotine. I can't recommend that. Actually I recommend the opposite. Aim higher than what people often suggest. Nicotine isn't going to kill you from vaping. You're already addicted, are you not? So what's the difference besides 4000 less chemicals? You might get a headache at worst if the nicotine is too high. The greater danger is the tar and smoke from cigarettes. If you start at 0mg nicotine I don't give you good chances of quitting smoking and starting to be a vaper. I get that you hate nicotine but it's important to ween yourself down slower than 0% from day one. Set a timeline and say ok, each week I'm going down a notch. Make the change in the mornings and try to maybe do it with different flavors so you don't notice the change so much. If you want to read more about my experience before you take the plunge then check out my quit diary blog.

My best advice to you is that you need to start fresh. It's imperative in my opinion that the first day of vaping be a day in which you have not yet smoked a cigarette. If you smoke a cigarette that day your chances are greatly decreased. I know that when I smoked the first thing I wanted to do was smoke when I got up. The difficulty in this challenge will be when your kit arrives. I don't know when the mailman runs for you, but mine runs at 5:30pm. Sitting there waiting all night with a new kit and not trying it would totally suck, but that's what I believe you should do. Charge your batteries up when you get it. Even though it gives you the green light you should charge it longer than that to prime your batteries. Check your instructions when you get them for more details. Fill all your cartomizers or tanks or whatever you got up and let them soak nice and good all night too. Then, the next morning, head straight for that e-cigarette when you would normally smoke. You vape more than you smoke (most people average a cigarette per hour). You'll be vaping almost constantly at first. If your are determined to start at 0mg then buy some of it along with some regular ejuice. I think it's smarter to start with something a step higher than where you want to be. If you smoked a pack a day of full flavors for example then I recommend getting 18mg and 24mg strength ejuice. If nothing else you can use the 0mg strength juice to mix with another flavor or to more slowly work your way between steps of nicotine content by diluting it into existing ejuice. I used the 18mg to cruise on (say if you're drinking that night), and 24mg for the hard times. I ended up with the 24mg strength. I plan on my anniversary to start working down to 0 and then quitting vaping altogether. For mixture ratio I think 70% PG and 30% VG is a good place to start as it will give you a good balance of vapor and flavor and will wick well in almost anything. Thicker juice (i.e. more Vegetable Glycerin) will be harder to wick and I can't recommend that for a beginner. Do note that some people are allergic to Propylene Glycol so be careful. If you get sick when you vape it (serious irritation from what I understand) stop immediately and go back to smoking and rethink your plan. It sucks but it's better than risking your health on the short term. There is no telling what the mixture of PG to VG was in a disposable ecig. I know that Blue (which sells disposables) uses 100% vg but that just an example of how there's no way to tell.

For me, as you will read in my blog, I got very lucky and came down with a nasty cold and although I had smoked that day already I took a nap and when I woke up there my equipment was. I didn't prime my batteries (which I regret) and I went straight to vaping (which I don't regret). For me there was no choice because I was so sick that smoking was painful and I truly lucked out in that regard. I couldn't have smoked well if I had wanted to. If you can't wait all night perhaps this plan of taking a nap will work for you.

There are plenty of 0mg nicotine vapers on this forum, although I am not one of them yet. But they didn't all start at 0mg they worked their way down over time. I smoked a half a pack to a pack a day of Marlboro Special Blend Reds (full flavor). I vape 70%PG/30%VG blend 24mg strength juice. 18mg was lighter for me and I needed that extra oomph to make sure I good and quit. I went back a week later and smoked a cigarette once I got over the cold and I did not enjoy it. It's amazing all the chemical taste just comes alive once you've been away for a while. Now I am feeling 1000% better since I quit for 4+ months.

Before I vaped I took a solid month to do research on it and if you would like to take a shortcut and benefit from my research please take the time to read my blog and save yourself a lot of time and wasted energy. I like to think that it's well written and helps people who are beginners. I keep it up to date with all my latest discoveries as well. I will link it below. Do yourself a favor and hit the "easy button".

The only thing is that now they have recently released a new E-cig called the EGO Twist. If I were to start vaping today I would get 2 of those (REPLACEMENT batteries) with a charger and a couple of Vision Vivi Novas instead of what I did which was to get a KGO. The EGO Twist is a variable voltage ecig that let's you control basically the strength and flavor of your hits by twisting a small knob on the bottom of your battery. This gives you great versatility. Stardusts are also a viable and cheaper option but you will not be able to keep them around forever. What you don't want to do is to get a starter kit that comes with crappy cartomizers or atomizers as they will be junky. Go with Boge or Smoktech cartomizers, a few stardusts (at least 4), or at least a couple of Vision Vivi Novas to start. Note that you'll get 3 atomizer heads with the Vivi Nova which will allow you the most versatility if you decide to get an EGO Twist as each one is a different resistance (low medium high).

Always anticipate when you are going to run out soon and pre-order your next shipment before you run out or you risk going back to smoking and starting all over. My startup cost was $150 dollars. Within a month and a half it had paid itself back. Now I am in the positive quite a ways like a couple hundred bucks. I wouldn't dream of starting unless you have at least a total of 30mg of juice if not more and you are going to have to re-order within a few days if you go that route, but by then you will know so much more what you are dealing with and a little more about what you like flavor-wise.

Here is the link to my blog:

Also you may find this link helpful as well which shows you what ohm resistance of atomizers/cartomizers/clearomizers to put on your battery for the voltages you want to vape at. The Ego Twist ranges from 3.2 volts to 4.8 volts. Most people who use Variable Voltage sit at around 4.5 volts. Here's the link:

You can get your hands on a couple of EGO Twist batteries here and they are on sale right now $2 off a piece. I have bought from this company before and although I had a problem with my order within a week I was able to sort it out and ended up on the better side of the deal - I don't anticipate you'll have any problems with them. Many vapers from ECF order from them:

AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | AltSmoke.com | eGo-C Twist Battery

Please note that they are some slow shippers though and it will likely take a week to get it. Make sure you get an EGO charger too. Most of them come with a USB/Plug combo so you can charge it on the wall or from a computer.

Hope this helps - send me a PM if you have any questions or to let me know how it all works out for you.
