:thumb:My first e-cig arrived on the 23rd October 2008 and I have not touched a real cigarette since.I am 54 and smoked 20 a day for approx 34 years.
To anyone hoping to stop smoking I would recommend e-cigs.Its the only way thats worked for me after trying loads of nrt.I no longer vape nicotine, just glycerine mixed with peppermint flavouring.I still love the 'act' of smoking,so with me its definitely the habit and not the addiction to nicotine that kept me prisoner for so long.
This has to be the easiest, painless, enjoyable,no cravings way ever to stop smoking.Good luck to everyone and I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I have.:)

Well done Julie. Congratulations

I've been wondering about how addictive the nic juice is and/or how easy to give up once you've got over the tobacco side of things.

I haven't smoked an analog for 60 days now and feel a bit safer about starting to cut the nic down, but I'm a bit wary of cutting the level down too far in one go.

How did you go about cutting your nic down? Did you just drop a level in juice or did you still have higher level when you felt the need? Or did you just not feel the need :?:

Any tips appreciated ;)

THANK YOU JULIE!!! This is just what I needed to hear this morning!

I just ordered my first ecig and it should be here in a couple of days. Now that it's on its way, for some reason I was starting to panic, wondering if I could really do this.

My plan is to do exactly what you've done and it's great to hear that it IS possible!

Congratulations and thanks so much for the inspiration! :D

Hi Jules,

I know we have often spoken on another forum, but I wanted to respond to this post and say WELL DONE GIRL !!!

You are an inspiration to many who have the same ambition.

Like you, I am addicted to the act of smoking rather than the nicotine, and the act is harder to give up than the drug itself.

So cutting down on it is possible, yes I know we all have peak times when we need that extra dose, for me that is in the morning.

During that period of time I use a higher dose and vape less, by the afternoon, I change to a lower dose, and then evening finds me continually vaping using either a very low dose or none at all.

We all find our own methods.

Remember, you can cut your nicotine levels by cutting the juice you are using, you dont have to purchase a lower dose juice.

Cutting is simply done by using PG or in my case, VG and a little distilled water, to make the consistency thinner.

You will find plenty of recipes on this site, and many people who will help you if you get stuck.

Happy Vaping !

At first I used pre filled high nic cartridges cos didn't know about bottles of juice then.I then bought bottle of 36mg and bought empty dropper bottles from chemist and mixed 50/50 juice and glycerine to make 18mg juice. For next couple of months I just increased the amount of glycerine and reduced amount of juice until eventually I was just vaping pure glycerine mixed with peppermint flavouring.I would say that I've been nicotine free for about 2 months now. This has been my way of quitting the tobacco/nicotine.Everyone is different,I just thought I'd let people who are thinking of trying vaping as a way to quit smoking that it can be done PAINLESSLY!!!!!!!!!
