I didn't witness any of the nonsense but I did attend and found the vapor overwhelming. Based on that alone I would not have wanted to be a guest in the hotel that weekend. It really is an event more suited to an outdoor venue. I also think they need to think through what vape Bash is. Is it a vape meet? It is a vape fair? Is it a vape trade show open to the public? So far it seems try to do them all.

Seems not everyone behaved well. Really not a good impression to leave on the public, it seems to me--particularly right now. I think I would have been disappointed too if I expected to vape in my room and then was told it wasn't permitted, but one would hope that you would deal with it like an adult.

Vapers Don’t Always Make Vaping Look Good — Thoughts On VapeBash Chicago 2014 | Ecig Advanced News

I read the article, and don't really know what to say, or where I stand.

First of all, someone in the comments of the article suggested that "When out in public, we should EACH feel like embassadors of vapers everywhere, etc etc" I completely DISAGREE with that.

I am NOT one for labels, stereotypes, and putting people into categories based on what they wear, eat, say, or do.

For instance, should a person who eats fast food feel like an ambassador for fast food eaters when around other people?

Should a person who is sexually active feel like an ambassador for other sexually active people when in public?

My point is, yes, I vape....but I don't represent a community....the COMMUNITY does that. I represent MYSELF. I am ONE person....not even a "sample" of the community. I would highly encourage the person who made that comment at the bottom of the article to take a statistics mathematics class. A sample requires more than ONE instance to be a sample for a population.

Again, let me simplify my point. While it is true, I do vape.....I do not represent anyone but myself.

When I was a smoker, I certainly didn't represent smokers.

It would be different if we were all in a CULT. The difference is in a cult, the members share many characteristics....they share the same beliefs, the same attitudes and opinions, the same ideas.

As vapers...we are NOT bound by ANY of those things.....in fact, the only thing all of us have in common...is that we VAPE.

We aren't a cult. We aren't a specific group of humans, that share a religion, a belief system, or anything like that. We are just a random group of humans who have one tiny thing in common - we vape instead of smoking.

Regardless of what you (we) think and how you (we) feel, you're (we're) on the 'inside' looking out. Step 'outside' and look back in. That's what the non-vaping public sees and reacts to! Azzhat vapers are what the general population will judge us all by.

Oh I have no doubt about that......I just don't care one little bit.

I'm old enough to know that people in general judge regardless. You know what I say? Let them form their opinions, I could NOT care less.

If someone is ignorant enough to think vapers have ANYTHING in common besides using PVs, that is THEIR ignorance.

I did not stay at the hotel but did attend VapeBash. I did not even know until after the fact that there were issue between hotel guests and hotel staff. On Friday, I was vaping at Starbucks and in the hallways. No one asked my to stop. The ballroom was vapor-filled and when it bothered my allergies, I left.

There were isues last year, too. I think what would help is to announce the hotel policy ahead of time, so people would know what to expect.

Well, I'm old enough to realize that you may not appreciate the difference twix ignorance without education and intolerance. Please don't let the latter trump the former.

We need ALL the help we can get from our vaping community. Please, don't just make an online statement from your keyboard without doing what you can to counter our 'foes'!

I'm not responding to diss you! I just hope that your attitude can be adjusted to understand and logically counter our opponents. No need for the 'bravado' here in the ECF, nor out on the public 'battleground'.

Education, education and some more of the same...

VAPE ON!!!
