I don't know what you tried, but this one is far from stock. It's got the mouth piece bored out to about 6.5mm and chamfered inside and out, the air inlet bored out to about 1.5mm, fused quartz tank replacement and the switch ground down lower than the body wall. Based on the modifications to the air handling, I doubt seriously I would have liked the stock version at all, but with the modifications it seemed to me to be the closest thing to a Zenesis I could find, without actually being one.
And I've given up on getting a Zen. They never show up in the classies (at least for any payment I can afford or trade I have), and with the thread getting 20 to 30 pages a day (at 40 posts per page) I cannot even keep up reading, let alone participate--and since Zen drops people from lists for not participating in the community...
Gonna try like heck for a Stratus, though, when Dave gets around to releasing it...

I joined the thread in the hopes that between you and pchela I might manage to at least get an introduction instead of having to rely on my own clumsy and awkward social skills, but the thread moves so fast it's like being in a chat room. I don't do chat rooms because my primitive brain is easily confused and I end up twitching on the floor in a fetal position. Or screaming obscenities at the air and having to buy a new keyboard.
I've always wanted a Precise, too, so the Stratus will kill two birds with one payment
