I don't know if I want to actually 'retire' or not, I love being busy tbh.......
Hard to believe a society who didn't see their own demise approaching got a calendar wrong.....
That's my problem, though--I'm too busy now, and work just gets in the way...
And using the logic that was applied to the Mayan thing, the calendar I'm used to has been saying the world was going to end on December 31st every year, ever since I can remember. I always end up buying a new calendar, but it still stops at 31 December. Every year. In all actuality we would have had another Mayan calendar for the Long Cycle we're in now a couple hundred years ago--if the Mayans could have predicted small pox...
It reminds me of the joke where a noted astronomer is giving a talk to some freshman at college and he explains due to the sun comsuming its fuel that the solar system only has 2 billion years to go. A woman in the audience screams and starts to wail and her fellow students have a heck of a time calming her down. She loudly proclaims "I can't believe you all can be so calm with the world coming to an end!!" The atronomer riterates that "Ma'am, you and yours will be long gone in 2 billion years." She calms down a lot with that and says "Oh, I thought you said two million............"

Well.... if you see any of that white stuff blowing around outside, it's the snow I sent ya from Texas. We got more than our share for Christmas. What's a snowman without snow? It has a southern drawl so sweet talking is the only thing that'll melt it!
