I saw a great joke, congress needs our help!!!:thumb:

A driver was stuck in a traffic jam on the highway outside Washington DC. Nothing was moving. Suddenly, a man knocks on the window.

The driver rolls down the window and asks, “What’s going on?”

“Terrorists have kidnapped Congress, and they’re asking for a $100 million dollar ransom. Otherwise, they’re going to douse them all in gasoline and set them on fire. We’re going from car to car, collecting donations.”

“How much is everyone giving, on average?” the driver asks.

The man replies, “Roughly a gallon.”

Indeed!!! I remember him on the Tonight Show, he was a crappy excuse for a bizarre hippie -- but was it funny when he was on!!!!

Ohhh that brought back funny memories, any time I wanted to completely tick off my stepmom as a kid, all I had to do was sing Tiptoe through the...(i never actually got to tulips before she'd say something) :D she hated tiny tim LOL

My karma probably took several hits on that (and the fact that I'm still grinning just by thinking of it)

On the Eisenhower video....WOW. the last statement, "only an Alert and Knowledgeable citizen can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together"

No wonder they get away with so much these days, taking our freedom in the name of our security. Our citizens are hardly alert and knowledgeable now. Rather, they're complacent and rely on misinformation spread from the highest bidders. *sigh*

Have I told you how awesome you are, sweetz?:wub::wub:

People don't like to think, they would rather have their opinions fed to them to make them feel better about their views (even if they're not aware of them!) -- reflection and time might cause them to make a 'rational decision'!!!!

Rational free-thinking decisions???? Perish the thought!!!

and Awwww thank you!!

The sad part? I was so encouraged by these "99%" protests. Its the first semi-organized effort any portion of the population has tried in nearly forty years. But then it got here to my town. It was promptly filled with fifteen college students, with tents, in a non-business related (but centrally located) corner of town. WITH a generator. and TVs, and radios. Then the news interviewed them, and they had zero agenda. they had zero idea what they were doing. The town promptly and properly dismissed them for what they were - an excuse for college students to camp out instead of staying in the dorms, to party "in the wild". SUCH a pity.

Actually, I think it's worse than that. I think it's a chance for them to feel like they're protesting something without having to actually think about what they might be for or against.

They're college kids and the need to rebel--this way they don't have to work at it...

EXACTLY. Trust me, I work with college students all the time. I have a real life example that shows how far they've fallen from the "best and brightest"...

I was at a conference, discussing the ways to adjust billing from paper based forms to online forms, and the comment was made by a veteran administrator, in the business over ten years, "All you really have to do is put in a disclaimer on the website that in order to receive a paper bill they must send you a written request. Then they have to both READ and WRITE, and we all know they will NEVER do that." The room laughed, and everyone agreed. Guess what our new policy will be????

This, my friends, is our future, our next leaders of the country.

Our future leaders  what's the world going to be like when everyone sleeps 19 hours a day :?: I've actually been through 9 trainees in 5 years. Biggest problem is they won't get out of bed. I've had them call in at 2:30 to say they overslept. Well considering I start at 8:00 I'd say yeah your a bit late. then it's "I need a shower I can make it in an hour or so" followed by "what? I'm fired? But why?"
