OK, here's the situation.......I'm at a small party last night for a friend who's turned 40. One of the other couple's wives has a dying father and those two couples have been pretty close for a year now. The dude and the wife disappear into a bathroom near the end of the party after most have left save me, the other spouses know and are seemingly unworried. I have never known anyone to go into a bathroom at a party for anything other than sex and drugs, sometimes both. I've got to know what the hell is going on because the rumor mill will be in full force anyway, its just too weird, I can't even sleep I'm so freaked out......:confused::confused:

If you ever make it into Lexington, look up Pop's Resale shop on Leestown Road. In order to support the 5,000 square feet of vinyl he's got (on display, they have a huge warehouse as well) the only thing that he actually stocks new is turntables and stylii. The turntables are actually plug-in-the-wall, not usb, honest-to-god turntables and he carries both new and NOS needles and cartridges. Nice selection of vintage stereo equipment at decent prices (actual "5 way" speakers, and "solid state" equipment that doesn't have microprocessors in it--although the tube amps he has are understandably pricey).

Component home 8-track. 'Nuff said.

It's worth spending a couple hours looking around, even if you never buy anything. It'll take you back to the days that Pioneer actually meant something, everyone knew who Harman-Kardon was and Bose and Audio Research were not just over-priced brand names.

And if you manage to stop in, tell them the little girl who used to ride in the shopping cart's dad sent you ;)

what's a microprocessor?

Ripple, maybe it was just for the privacy. The conversation might have been about personal experiences dealing with the death of a loved one. It's a tough subject and a tougher one to have with an audience...

Dude, I'd like to think so........but why a bathroom? As you can tell, its eating me up, I like everyone involved and her dad has been in the hospital for 3 months, this is not unexpected.......and I have gotten weird vibes for a while now......this was the buddy who was ignoring me somewhat, I'm starting to get a better idea why..........

Does it matter that much? Will knowing one way or the other change your opinion or feelings for any of the people involved?

If it truly matters, then Isbenny is right and you should go ahead and ask one of them. If it doesn't really matter and it's just a case of burning curiosity, just wait. If they are being that obvious about it you are bound to find out soon enough...

Heck....I used to live in Lexington and still have family there. Don't know how I missed a gem of a store like that. There goes my savings account.

Ya' know, sometimes I wonder how much I know anyone except my sister and my best friend - -everyone else's deep dark secrets I am seemingly blissfully unaware -- but I know there's a lot more stuff going on than I know about, you get vibes, you know? Its probably nothing but it could be a swap thing, just wouldn't have guessed it.......

Well, he doesn't advertise much, at least not anymore, and you can't really see the sign from the road...

Either you didn't live there very long or didn't know the right people ;)

Heck, most people don't bother getting to know themselves--how can you expect to know them?

I think that's one of my biggest problems -- I know myself entirely too well!!!8-o8-o8-o Seriously, I've always been able to look at myelf as a separate entity and criticize myself thusly (and do it constantly, that's why I don't talk much in public, trying to ascertain if my planned converstion will be apropos and not be offensive ), maybe that's part of being a gemini.......yeah, pwyll, I don't understand how some are and if they ever looked in a transcedental mirror.........

The record shop I love (and there aren't many left!) is Beverly Rare records, its a place you have to experience.......:thumb:

I don't think it's necessarily a Gemini thing--I'm a Taurus and I'm right there with you. I think it's more of a hippie thing, though I can't figure out exactly why the introspection goes along with it so often. I do know that there are many times I actually envy the oblivious cattle who don't have enough of a clue not to be blandly and blissfully happy all the time--but it doesn't usually last long.

Sounds great. Pop's isn't so much a record shop as it is an "obsolete entertainment" shop. Pop's dad was a musician and Pop started life as a sound engineer. They opened a record store sometime in the 70's and sometime during the eighties it sort of morphed into a Vintage Shop. Now they have clothing, video games (anything earlier than PS2), VHS and Laser Disc (and a very small selection of DVD), assorted junk that catches his eye, and vinyl/stereo equipment. They have four or five listening stations, but only for turntables. And they don't have any "new" music. If you just happen across it, you'd likely never know they even sell records even though it's 3/4 of their stock. It's a very unique place in that it seems to only exist in order to generate enough money to pay for the storage of his stuff and let the kids afford to listen to music and indulge their hobbies. It's a family operation, but it's barely a business--it's more like a massively shared family hobby.

On the other hand it's been more than a decade since I've been in an honest-to-god record shop. I'm not sure if I'd remember how to act--but I know I'd love to get my daughter in one before they're extinct...

Dude, my needle died a couple years ago and never have replaced it (damned economy!!!:grr:), now I have to make a trip to there!:thumb: The Fugs, Frank Marino and Mahogony Rush, Boomtown Rats, Jeff Beck, Country Joe and the Fish, hell, even Zappa, all stuff I discovered there...:rickroll::rickroll::rickroll:

As far as introspection, there is a reason the Indians took peyote, it (and others like it) opens a window into your soul...........or so I've seen on TV!!!!:lol::lol::lol:

Your reflection on the screen of the TV? :)

I grew up near reservations, so for me, I thought it was just something you did durring your journey to adulthood.
Ordered my Lavatube from TW (yoyo sale on kit at 40% off). Cheap VV for those if you get it at a deal like that. 63$ shipped with 2 batteries and a 1 year warranty! Now watch...I will win that ProVari!

Must be nice. All the places where I discovered music are gone. Ben Franklin's bargain bin growing up in Frankfort. Chapter 3, Underground Records and Bear's Wax after moving to Lexington.

Actually - IMHO and Professionally - As far as "Introspection" goes, it usually takes Someone WHO Is Sensitive Enough To Finally "Realize" that there is reallly more to "LIFE" than just "Being" . . .

AND - More importantly, that they themselves cannot take Their Life or the People around them for Granted . . .

So - To know "One's Own Thoughts and Feeelings" and to "Consider Your Actual Motivations" is to know "How You Truly Affect and Effect" those around You and because You "CARE". . .

Just My :2c: . . . No Matter How Stupid It Sounds . . .
