Halo did actually have 510 threaded systems named Element - within my year of vaping they eliminated all of their 510 devices and changed to strictly 808.

Halo, Smokeless Image, and V4L offer systems in 808 as they cater to the "new" and inexperienced vapor. All of their systems work together seamlessly so the new vapor doesn't get confused by "ohms" - "voltage" - "watts" and all the other terms that more knowledgeable vapors learn about during their voyage.

All of the above mentioned have ventured into the "VV" offerings to make the journey more appealing to the masses. I have nothing but good things to say for these companies because for the new and inexperienced vapors it makes the journey less confusing and hopefully something they will continue to do as a healthier alternative. (One in particular for me, anyways, has some of the most amazing juices!)

Some veteran members here still exclusively use 808 threaded devices and the market for other vendors to supply 808 devices has improved tremendously over the past year.

They could easily use 510 instead of 808 and still cater to new vapers

Not everything in life is interchangeable. If you have an ego-T, buy a stardust or T2, which are only $4 a piece.

Myself, I have an MVP for all of my ego/510 needs.

We all grow and change, and so does our equipment. Even though I have a MVP and even a k100 mech mod, I still use my Triton kit every single day. 3 months + and my Triton Tank kit works like it did on Day 1. Flawlessly, efficiently and effectively.

Some new vapers will stay with a cig-alike; some will love an ego-type system and stick with it, for it satisfies their needs, and others will move on to MODs and MECHs and RDA/RBAs. The Triton Tank kits work.

what i mean is, 808 threading is obsolete. the triton uses this threading, which is why it is incompatible
Actually...

510 was the original threading system, back when cig-a-likes had three separate components. By itself, 510 is obsolete, but it remains as part of eGo threading.

808 (KR808D-1) is the most popular now, with a few vendors peddling 808D-2, which is not interchangeable.

510 is known to be problematic, and I'm sure some can attest to that.

eGo has two threads; an outer thread, topped with a 510 thread. vGo has the same outer thread, but topped with 808D-1 instead of 510.

Halo chose to go with vGo, which keeps their big batteries compatible with all of the attachments from their cig-a-like, without having to use an adapter. They are not alone.

I think it's a gamble, but I certainly admire that they are pushing for something better.

I own 1 tank that requires ego threading. All the others use 510, so no it is not obsolete by itself at all. And most vendors are not selling 808 they are selling 510

...The E-9 (KR808D-2) style is one of the most popular styles...The E8 or (KR808D-1) compatible electric cigarette has become a lot more popular recently, there are a great deal of companies that sell it now and probably a lot more to come...

Looking around now, 808D-1 is indeed far more popular, for cig-a-likes. Searching online, I only found one vendor of 510 cig-a-like, but there are indeed plenty of 510 cartos available.

From an engineering perspective, 510 threading was never designed to hold large tanks, and some users have reported snapping the thread clean off their tanks, by accident. There are also a number of issues with the seal of the electric connection, which may cause a connection failure, and there's plenty of those reports.

...To this day though there still isn't a true 510 form factor and atties and batteries will fit to different degrees... some will thread but not make a good enough center positive pole connection. Some atties you can't get to screw down all the way....

Have you ever had any problems with yours, or have you been lucky, so far?
