Hi all,

been lurking here the last week or so, decided it was time to introduce myself.

I'm a 20 year smoker and recently a 2 week vaper from Ireland, been getting some great second hand advice by reading the new members forums. So I thought I'd post my progress and see if anyone has any suggestions for improvement.

Anyone who wants to tl;dr this is welcome to.

As a said above, I'd been smoking for roughly 20 years, sometimes cigarettes, other times cigars or a pipe, at one stage i was a 3 pack a day man. In the last few years it's been hand rolled cigs for economy.
Tried quitting too many times to count, patches, gum, inhalers, pills etc. The only things I didn't try were hypnosis or lasers, because when I called to enquire the price was prohibitive. As I said to one person, to afford that I'd have to quit smoking for a month, and if I could quit smoking for a month I wouldn't need it.

A few years ago I tried out one of the cig-a-likes when they started being marketed over here, but didn't find it satisfying and went straight back onto analogs and dismissed the world of e-cigs from my mind entirely.

Anyway, I was pretty much resigned to smoking myself to my grave when just before Christmas a friend of mine shared a post on facebook. It was one of the "like and share" competitions and it was from a vaping facebook page. I had no idea vaping had evolved so much from when I tried it last.

So a quick google search landed me here, and after a few days of research I placed an order online. My starter kit arrived 2 weeks ago and I haven't had an analog since.

Pretty much as you'd expect from a starter kit: 2x 650mah Ego C spinner batteries, 2x Aspire E-TS BDC Glassomisers, Usb charger, adapter and case. The kit came with a 10ml bottle of tobacco flavoured liquid, but I didn't want to bank on liking the first one so ordered a 10ml bottle of extreme menthol (my better half smokes menthols) and 10mls of french vanilla at the same time. I ordered 20mg strength liquids figuring I'd need the hit coming off the analogs. The tobacco flavour was a non-runner so I was using the menthol.

As it turned out, one of the few B&M stores in the country was quite near, so I checked it out as well. I felt they were a bit overpriced for the kit (just bought a second charger), but good for liquids, and I picked up 30ml of their american blend. I've worked out that a 50/50 mix of that and the menthol is doing it for me right now. Not worried too much about making clouds, right now I'm just happy that I found it so absurdly easy to switch off the analogs.

I should mention that my better half switched to vaping at the same time and we had split the starter kit, so it only took 1 day for me to order a second kit and a few more flavours of juice.

So as for where I'm at right now on my journey.. I'm vaping and analog free for 13 days right now and have no intention of touching an analog again unless someone puts a gun to my head. I'm happy enough with my setup for the time being as I now have 2 batteries (although still only 1 tank - she somehow managed to appropriate both tanks that came with the second kit - Aspire Maxi BDCs if anyone's interested). The online retailer I use is located in Ireland so I get my deliveries the next day, which I'm very pleased about.
Playing around with different flavours is the plan for the next while, although I plan to pick up a 1300mah battery and spare heads for the tanks we have, maybe a few different tanks to try out.
I've figured out the whole PG/VG thing but the terminology surrounding modding/dripping/RBAs and so forth still makes my head spin, so I think I'll leave all of that to one side for a good while.

Had a gurgly-leaky tank issue last night but cleaned it out with hot water and left it to air-dry and it seems to have done the trick. feel free to let me know if I've done something wrong.

Even though it's my first post I've already learned a lot from reading these forums over the last few days, and some advice has already been put to good use. I have a feeling I'll be checking in at least daily for a good while to come.

Thanks for all your help so far, even if you didn't know you were doing it :).
