Computer problems!

I have been off-line for a few days, because my computer was an old lady and was slowly fading out. I have been having problems for a while but a few days agao I was looking at Carlos's video and pictures in his atomizer mod thread and I posted. When I hit submit..his pictures disappeared! I did the very same thing in a TDStrikes Battery mod thread..his pictures disappeared! I paniced and figured I really did something awful and asked about it. I was told by Lordmage that the pictures were fine and it was my computer. I did what he asked, and about 20 other things..nothing.
Mike took my tower to our local geek shop..they are really good. There built me a new tower, it has a lot more memory and hard drive (a terrabyte) I think that is big..concidering they ghosted everything but the problems on this tower and I still have almost all of the hard drive left.
The problem is I still can't see the blasted pictures that disappeared! I also can't figure out how to get the sound to work..Mike got me a new monitor and I really don't like it..it's one of those wide ones and everything looks all s..t..r..e..t..c..h..e..d..out.
I hate change!!!

Yeah, but I am so sick of computer nonsense tonight I could just cry! I mean they gave me back my old tower to use while he built my new one, after he ghosted it..but it was too big a pain to reset up..I messed with it for 2 days! Now the new tower is giving me fits, and my computer guy can't be reached for a couple of days..I HATE HOLIDAYS! LOL
My son helped me fix the size, I had my old screen set to seeing eye dog..so I wouldn't have to wear my readers..but on this screne, it was too big! It was like people were screaming at me! And I had the brightness set too high for the new screen. I think I have sunburn! It's better now.
I hate resetting stuff..it's like getting a new purse and having to switch stuff over, it never fits!

I hate setting everything up again too I have had to reformat my desktop twice since I got married thanks to hubbys surfing habits so I feel your pain.

If I go AWol again, it's due to this computer. It's very fast..fastly becoming a paperweight! Today it started saying Not responding. My AOL won't stay connected. I am on Internet explorer..until it starts in on me!
I have reloaded aol 9.1 twice. I reloaded acorbat reader because the stupid phone guy said to..they tested everything..over the phone. The aol people did the same. I am so frustrated.
It's back to the computer guy tomorrow.

MaryKay, it may not be your computer. It may be your aol **connectivity** that is the issue. Are you on DSL? It can be really cranky.
But if this is happening tomorrow, can you get your computer guy to come out to see you instead of taking the box to him? That way, if there is an internet connectivity issue there at your house, it will be detectable. I'm thinking this is entirely possible.

Between now, and then, do you know how to do a disk cleanup and a scandisk and a defrag? With all of the reinstalling you have done, there are bound to be loads of temp files that a cleanup will remove.

We bought one of those wide screen things, just hated it. We sold it to a guy who just stopped by to help us try to make my Corel Draw Graphics suite work right, never did figure it out. So he took it home, he watches lots of movies on his PC. Went back to my old screen resolutions. I hate change too. Especially when you have to work very hard to get where you already are then some monkey invents something "new" and it has to be good cause everybody is buying those! Yes, because now that's all you have, fool!

We had a few things to do today..I hate outside 8-o Last night I went into the utilities area of the computer...scary in there! I told the computer to rebuild adapters, and anything else that it could fix with the one click quick fix. No idea whick one click fixed it but ..Here I am! Now the only problem left is the tinny sound of my speakers. They sound like a bad car speaker under water..lol I have tried everything (no one clicks for this) and I am at wits end. When I make a cd on the computer it sounds good on my cd player, but like junk on my computer. This computer has speakers located in the back of the screen..one input jack to the computer, I will live with it until I get around to going to the computer guys.
