Thanks, Karen! Wow...dejavu
Anyway...went through and turned mine off.

There is no fix! Krista might lose everything on her new laptop! Firefox caught it and disabled Java in their browsers. So I am glad I have Firefox! That is all I use! Krista was using Chrome and vunerable!

Please do not try to uninstall Java on your computer. From what I am reading you must only disable it! A uninstall will turn on the virus!

The articles I am reading state the Mac's are vulnerable also. Please check!

Most macs are on Java 6 which is in the clear. From what I've read you would have had to seek out Java 7 and download it on your own or visit a malicious site that prompts you to upgrade.

I checked all 4 of my macs earlier this week when I saw it listed on a news site. All 4 of mine are still on Java 6 thankfully and will stay that way.

I've upgraded mine and there doesn't seem to be a problem with Java 7.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Dave, the quote below I took from a computer forum I frequent. I am not an expert on this stuff, so make of it what you will. For my pc, and laptop I just deleted Java from the pc, and the laptop didn't have it installed to begin with. My pc is running Vista 32 bit, and my laptop runs Windows 7. I have not had any problems at all accessing any site I go to.

"I have Java SE 7 Update 07 (Vista, IE9, FF, Chrome) and the following test
Is Java Exploitable? powered by Rapid7
says

Congrats! You appear to be running a version that isn't vulnerable to publicly
disclosed exploits. We still advise you to disable the Java browser plugin unless
you absolutely need it.

Is this correct?

Yes, the website check on the vulnerabilities JRE 7 update 7 patched.
Holes that the polish firm issued POC(proof of concept) exploits. However,
the patch did not close all exploitable vulnerabilities that the firm discovered
after JRE 7 Update 7 was issued. These are new bugs after the patch that
were discovered by the same firm and as far as we know, they’re the only
ones who knows. They’ve reported the exploit to Oracle and like us waiting
for Oracle to address the problem. Expect this firm to disclose the POC when
Oracle takes too long the patch the problem again".

Well, with Java disabled on my browser, I cannot "like" any comment on Fb and it asked me if I wanted to switch to their Mobile site- I did this but not all comments are showing up...and I can't click on any of the notifications with the click doing something so I guess there's a place for Java- just don't want to run any risks though.. Are there any work-arounds??

Boy, wish I could help you there, hopefully someone will be able to. Might try looking up any new updates to firefox and see if they have anything on it, if you haven't already.
