So say we have a four post rda (in fact, I have two!). And we're interested in a dual coil build

The applicable equation to find the resistance of the atomizer as a single unit is:

1/(total resistance)=1/(first coil resistance)+ 1/(second coil resistance)

Because of the fact that these coils are run in parallel, correct?

It's actually half the total resistance of a single coil. For example, if you wrap a coil that measures 1 ohm in resistance and another exactly the same and install them both in your RDA - the total resistance for that atomizer will be .5 ohms

FYI - 4 post atomizers aren't *really* 4-posts - they're still just 3. The center post just has two slots/holes/terminals to make it easier for multi coil builds. It's still technically a single center post

You are describing a series coil. 1ohm + 1ohm = 2ohm I think

In parallel dual coil the result will be approx 1/2 the ohm of the lowest ohm coil, 3 coil setup 1/3, ect.
1ohm = 2ohm + 2ohm or 1ohm = 3ohm + 3ohm +3ohm

Lots of terms get used incorrectly, when ap;plied to a specific hobby or activity. 4 post generally means 4 connection points. Not always 4 actual POSTs.
There are 4 post atty with 2 pos and 2 neg and 4-post atties with 3 neg and 1 pos, and then 3 post 4 connection atties with the 2 neg posts and T-pos post, ect.
